Excuse me, when did you get so cute and big? Ok, she’s always been cute. This girl brings the energy but man is she fun. I foresee some heavy greetings/no jumping work in our future. She’s a pogo stick for sure. 😂

7 years of Orio. How can that be when it feels like we just picked up that sweet faced little puppy? 7 is always a big year for me and my dogs because I’ve lost my two other female dals at 8. It feels so old, yet so young. Orio marks another milestone in my life. From my first Dalmatian, Honda, to the Dalmatian who I learned about training with, Delta. Orio marks the time in my life when I was pretty well situated in my training journey and she has complimented it so well. My kids will be old enough to remember her entire life. I think that’s the amazing thing about owning dogs and their lifespans. It’s so short, but every dog marks another step in our life. I truly hope Orio and I have many good years to come. Happy birthday sweet girl. Every day as your momma is a blessing and a joy. ❤️

This has been an interesting water bottle for the dogs! They are used to drinking out of many different bottle types, but this one intrigues them. The only one I’ve really seen that doesn’t bat an eye about drinking from it is Turtle. 😂 The others kind of eye it and then drink it. But it’s been super handy to grab and take on quick outings!

Are your dogs picky about where and how they drink their water?

Life has been lived on my phone a lot more than my camera recently, and that’s ok! We were pleasantly surprised yesterday when we showed up to the cross country meet and it was on the beach. We will take any opportunity to hang on the beach. 🫶

I haven’t used our thigh treat pouch much but I am LOVING it now. I love that it hangs lower off my hip so when I am doing a lot of bending with the puppy, my treats don’t roll around in the bag! This thin pouch is perfect for outings as it sits close to your body without too much baggage but still holds all the essentials!

Of course and I had to make a socialization stop at one of our favorite collar makers, ! We love stopping in to get sighthound collars because they custom make them while you wait! And then you proceed to buy more things. 😂 We opted for one of their new martingale with a coordinating color loop. The girls are ready for Halloween!

Just a few photos lately. ❤️ Life has been going so fast I haven’t been able to be thoughtful about my photography. Or really about much right now. I want to look forward to fall photos, but I feel so rushed right now I don’t feel like I can enjoy the thought of them yet. Here’s to slowing down and getting a little more time to myself soon. ❤️

Zac and Turtle graduated puppy kindergarten! 🎉

Now be prepared for the novel, the 1.5 hour ride home gives me lots of thinking time.

It’s easy to compare yourself to others. I think I do a really good job of staying in my lane and acknowledging what is realistic for myself and my family. But I know it is hard for others. Turtle is now 16 weeks and only knows a handful of things, most not on verbal cue. There are many puppies her age doing many different tricks already. And that’s ok. That is not what I need to focus my time on.

I have had many years to come to terms with the fact that I make decisions and I live in those decisions. When I make a decision, it’s here to stay and I am comfortable with that. I have always been this way. I know what I want, when I want it, and I get it. Having kids “young” meant I had to miss a lot of dog sport events and opportunities. (This was right when having kids around 23 was starting to become young) at first I was sad, but I was also aware that it was my choice to have a child (literally. I made the choice to get off birth control because we wanted a child). So while I was sad, I knew I made the choices I wanted to.

I have different goals that may look weird to people than others because of our lifestyle. Everyone’s will look different. Sometimes it’s easy to get distracted and want the “shiny thing” (oh look, that puppy can do all the cool tricks already), but we have to remember that their goals are not our goals.

So what are my current goals? A solid house dog who knows when it’s settle time (hello five dogs in a house that are all out at the same time). A solid dog around children. While my kids are older, we have young neighbors and we have high hopes of therapy work. Solid out and about manners. We work a ton of reinforceable behaviors that don’t really have a cue. Staying close by in a busy area, watching people walk by without lunging or barking, not jumping on people, being able to settle quietly while we eat or talk. A solid dog in the crate. With all our travel, this is a MUST!

Every day we remember this day back in 2001. Orio’s name is a daily reminder of the events that struck our country on 9/11/01. While it may annoy me that people think we named her after a cookie, my husband named her Orio so she can help teach the younger generations who were not present for 9/11. Because we have adults now serving this country who do not remember the events of this impactful day. We will never forget and we do not want our children to forget.

Sit down and find a name of a courageous soul that was lost on 9/11 and learn about them today. Teach your children about them as well. Say their names. Watch the videos. Listen to the recordings. Never forget. 🇺🇸
