Petco Love PICK ME! SC RETURNS JUNE 12-21
We're bringing together more than 90 animal shelters, rescue organizations, and Petco stores from every region of the Palmetto State.
Since its launch, the event has helped more than 15,000 pets find families, transforming lives while strengthening communities across South Carolina. The effort is powered by national nonprofit organization Petco Love and organized through Charleston Animal Society's No Kill South Carolina initiative, a groundbreaking collaboration that helped South Carolina become the first No Kill State across the southern US.
"The timing for the Petco Love Pick Me! SC adoption event is critical for the overcrowding that South Carolina shelters are experiencing," said Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA, project director for No Kill South Carolina. "Just as the summer heat rises, so does intake. And as we know, every adoption creates space for another pet in need."
Throughout the ten-day event, participating organizations from the Lowcountry to the Upstate will offer free and low-fee adoptions, making it easier than ever for families to welcome a new companion into their homes.
“Summer is one of the busiest and most challenging times for animal shelters, as they care for an influx of pets while resources and space are stretched thin,” said Chelsea Staley, President of Petco Love. “The Petco Love Pick Me! SC encourages pet lovers across South Carolina to choose adoption and helps provide our shelter partners with much-needed relief during the peak summer season. By bringing communities, shelters, and adopters together, this event will help thousands of pets find loving homes."
For thousands of South Carolina pets, the ten days between June 12th and June 21st could mean the difference between waiting and starting their new life in a loving home. The message is simple: Pick Me!
