Charleston Animal Society

Charleston Animal Society Since 1874, our mission has been THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. YOUR Charleston Animal Society is celebrating 151 years of protecting animals.

We are SC's first animal organization & an international model of lifesaving success. In addition to caring for homeless animals, from hamsters to horses, adopting them into new homes, and reuniting the lost with their families, the organization responds to animals in crisis as a result of both man-made and natural disasters. The comprehensive shelter medicine program not only provides direct serv

ices for as many as 1,200 animals in our system of care at one time, the shelter veterinarians also spay or neuter upwards of 10,000 dogs and cats each year and they provide emergency medical services to critically ill and injured animals arriving at the shelter daily. All dogs and cats 1 yr and older are FREE to adopt and kittens are 1/2 price! Dont miss out on this amazing dog Steven aka Paco
We are open 12-3 M-F and 10-5 Saturday and Sunday! Steven is house broken , jumps right into the car for rides and comes with his own crate! He will be live on 24 Charleston and Lowcountry Live WCIV at 10:45
Meet Steven!
This little meatball is looking for a home to start his weight loss journey. Steven needs a home with lots of patience to teach him house training and leash manners. He loves his snacks and is a big fan of curling up in his persons lap at the end of the day to relax. He would benefit from a home without small animals due to his passion for chasing little critters. Steven is ready to be a best friend for someone looking for a best friend.

Our Pet Supply Store is stocked with calming pheromone sprays and diffusers
to naturally soothe your cat's travel anxiety.

šŸ’” Pro Tip: Spray their carrier or travel blanket 15 minutes before loading your kitty inside. This gives the comforting pheromones time to set in, keeping them calm from the driveway to the exam room!

Zion first came to us as a puppy and then returned at 6 months old. He soon became a staff favorite!

Zion has continued to grow into a smart, fun-loving boy who already knows sit, down, and paw. He’s great on a leash, absolutely loves the water, and is always ready for his next adventure.

Like any young dog, he’s still learning about the world and would benefit from continued socialization and positive experiences to help build his confidence.

If you meet Zion in the shelter, you might hear him before you see him! He can be vocal in his kennel, but that’s simply his way of expressing his excitement. Once he’s out, his goofy, affectionate personality shines.

He’s eager to learn, loves being with people, and is ready to find his person!

What's that? You think I'm a handsome boy? 😜 Tony the Tiger is a 2-year-old charmer who's looking for a family that's cool with him being a little awkward at first (think of it as a fun icebreaker!). He's a gentle soul who needs some chill vibes and a patient family to help him come out of his shell. Give him some time, snacks, and belly rubs, and he'll be your BFF in no time! šŸ’• He's not asking for much - just a peaceful pad, a comfy couch, and someone to watch Netflix with (he's a sucker for rom-coms šŸæ). If you're ready for a laugh, a snuggle buddy, and a whole lot of love, Tony's your guy! 🐾Visit Tony Monday-Friday 12-3pm or Saturday and Sunday 10-5pm. A very happy tail from Matthew Rak: "Saw that you guys are doing the and wanted to give an extended update on Milo who I've had for almost a year now. It's been great, he loves his walks, treats, destroying toys that are indestructible, park time, car rides, just cuddling around some times, he's been the bestest boy." We agree "bestest boy," and beautiful, too.

Plankton is an adorable 11-month-old pup with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. This friendly boy enjoys meeting new friends and is always happy to share his sweet, affectionate personality with everyone he meets. Whether he's joining you for an adventure or simply relaxing by your side, Plankton loves being part of the action.

While Plankton is very social and loving, he's still building confidence as he navigates the world around him. With encouragement, patience, and positive experiences, he continues to make great progress every day. Plankton would thrive in a home that can help him grow into the confident dog he's meant to be while showering him with the love and reassurance he deserves.

Plankton is currently in the Adoption Ambassador foster program. Foster families take dogs into their home and help them get adopted. Interested in Plankton? Plankton's Adoption fee has been sponsored. Contact Senior of Adoptions, Courtney Gumienny, [email protected] 843-329-1577
