This is a little long but I feel we need to address a few things:
As most of you know, we had a very reputable groom shop close here in Newton. We have been overwhelmed with requests (phone calls, texts, voicemail, Facebook messages, in person, etc). We were already busy before the influx of new clients from the other shop. We are trying our best to get back to everyone and doing our best to get everyone scheduled. Not only are we swamped with requests, but we are also working longer hours than normal and if we stop to answer phone calls and texts as often as they come in, we would never get the dogs done that we have scheduled for that day. Please be patient with us and if you can please send us a text or Facebook message because those are the easiest for us to get to during the day and it will have the quickest response. With that being said, due to walk in requests some of our groom times may take a little longer than they have in the past. Please be patient with us. I have had people tell me to hire a receptionist but I truly believe that part of a successful grooming environment is building a relationship between the client and the groomer themselves and we schedule based on the individual pet's needs. Who knows more about how long the dog/cat usually takes, their quirks, their good points, their needs, their possible health concerns and know how to schedule them accordingly (time frame, reactive to other pets, elderly so allow more time, etc)? Yes, the groomer. The one who knows the dog more than anyone at the shop. As much as I would love to have a receptionist to take some of the load off, it's just not feasible for the personal level we run the business on. Even though we are swamped, we will do our best to get everyone scheduled. We will not lower our standards of quality over quantity and will do everything we can to keep our environment as stress free as possible. Grooming can be very stressful and some days we cannot just squeeze another dog in or come in earlier than we already are. We need to take care of ourselves so we can be the best version of ourselves when we are caring for your fur babies, which means we need a day off once in a while. We like to allow dogs and cats to enjoy the grooming process and if we are overworked, wore out, stressed out, etc... how does that affect the dog/cat we are working on? If you need your dog done at a certain time please let us know at drop off or when you make the appointment if you know in advance and we will let you know if it is possible or not, or reschedule on a day you can allow more time. If you are needing your dog groomed express style, we just may not be the right fit for you. The more you call, text, or stop in to check on your fury baby the more it slows us down on top of getting your fur baby excited to see you and then we have to take more time to calm them down after you leave to try (if it's even possible at that point) to finish the groom. Thank you for understanding and we appreciate each and every one of you very much.
