We have reached the goal of being a “no kill community” in 2016 and have continued on that path every year since. We are committed to keeping that status every year from here out. A “No Kill Community” is an animal shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals even when the shelter is full, reserving euthanasia for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous to public safety. Du
ring 2016, Caring Hands reached the goal with 90.42% and improved during 2017 to 93.1%. In 2018, we further increased that percentage to 95.66%! Behind those statistics are thousands of individual stories with happy endings because of your help! So many times when our resources were stretched to the limit, you came forward and brought food for the animals so they did not go hungry. You donated blankets so they were not cold. You gave them toys so they could have a little joy during their stay here. You saved their lives by providing foster homes until a kennel opened up or until they found their forever home. You sponsored their transport fees so they could go to rescues. You’ve supported us in our endeavors every time we have asked for your help. The companion animals here cannot speak, so on their behalf, we say thank you! The truth is, a shelter cannot achieve “no kill” status on its own. It takes a community. To find out how to take the next steps towards saving each and every animal, visit our volunteer, fostering, memberships, or donations pages. Remember, lives are saved one at a time!

15 Adoptions This Week! Nearly 2,000 animals find shelter and a second chance with us each year at Caring Hands Humane Society and it's all because of our incredible community of adopters. Many of these animals come to us never knowing what it means to be loved… until they walk through our doors. We are SO GRATEFUL for every person who chooses adoption. Without you, we couldn’t save as many lives as we do.
💕 Please share this post with your friends, family, or local community groups. Help us find the best homes possible for every animal we care for! https://caringhandshs.org/adopt-dog-cat/

Animals are brought in every single day at Caring Hands. Since Monday we've had 16 kittens and 5 puppies come in, and we already have 8 puppies and dozens of kittens in our care. Due to high demand, our stores are down to just a few bags of food left. We NEED dry food. We typically use Purina One, but accept any brand.
These kittens are available for adoption today! Come by today to adopt, they go quickly!

This is Lumpy Space Princess. She is a Harvey County stray that came to us after what appears to have been a bite from a much larger animal, like a dog or coyote. She had severe swelling on her head, most notably on the right side, as well as multiple puncture wounds on her head, face, and neck. With the threat of a skull fracture, we truly weren’t sure she would make it.
Lumpy Space Princess required immediate veterinary care upon arrival. Due to the extent of her injuries and potential head trauma, we had to clean the wounds, manage the swelling, and prevent infection. We took a chance on her and, thankfully, she responded to treatment quickly and is now starting to show us her very playful and sweet personality as she recovers.
That being said, her medical care has come at a cost. We'd like to raise $450 to put back in our emergency medical fund. If you’re able to donate toward her recovery, we would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit helps!
Swipe for a big kiss from Gigi! ☀️ Tomorrow is the first day of summer!
Come see who’s at Caring Hands! Need a summer buddy for sunbathing or lounging at the lake? We’ve got some playful pros ready to share your yard, soak up the sun, and help you hit your step goals on walks! 🐶🌼
Come meet some of our newer faces...They’re ready to make this the best summer ever.

🎶Good golly, Miss Molly🎶
Miss Molly was brought to Caring Hands after the unfortunate passing of her owner. She was well loved and cared for, her temporary foster shared this information about her:
"Miss Molly is a fun, loving, playful dog with beautiful blue eyes. She loves tennis balls, will usually give the ball back for another round of fetch, and is a fast runner. One of her favorite activities is flopping next to you (or on you) on the couch (or the bed– even better) for some snuggles.
She is potty-trained and tolerates being in a crate (we crated her when we’d leave the house or if she needed a break), though the pitiful whining will persist if she thinks you’re a softie. Molly gets along with some dogs well, and other dogs not so much, so a meet-and-greet with potential furry siblings is a must. Gentle but firm commands and correction are more effective than harsh words, as she tends to freeze if she thinks she’s in trouble but will correct pretty easily otherwise.
She has been very gentle and patient with kids ages 7-17 (no known experience with kids younger than 7). She will be a wonderful addition to the right family, sure to bring joy and laughter."
Please share! Give us a call at 316.283.0839 if you'd like to hear all the information provided for Miss Molly. 🖤
