I have such a soft spot for old dogs 🫠 Have you ever met a cuter pupperoo?

Schatzi is a 17 year old long haired dachshund. I have been seeing her for acupuncture to treat her heart disease, arthritis, cough, and dental disease. I see her regularly every 2 weeks. She is a fiesty girl, still trotting around, eating well, and sleeping soundly. Schatzi loves treats and I feed her chicken hearts every time I place a needle. She loves her sessions! 💖

A very busy but very rewarding couple of days!!! Loving the results I'm seeing with electroacupuncture on these hardworking horses!

Electroacupuncture heals injury by activating nerves that reduce inflammation and stimulate release of the body's own pain-relieving neurotransmitters. It also improves blood flow and neuromuscular function, helping tissues repair after injury.

I avoid electroacupuncture on the first visit to assess the horse's response to needles - but if they tolerate them I highly recommend adding on EA (+$40) to their future visits to make the treatment as effective as possible! Ask me about electroacupuncture at your horses next visit or send me a message to learn more!

Finally received my diploma in the mail - your girl is an OFFICIAL mixed animal Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist! ☯️

Only veterinarians can become acupuncturists, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to take this course!

What's next?! Should I continue it to the masters program? Get another certification? Food Therapy, Pain and Palliative Care, Herbal Practitioner, and Tui Na are some options that I'm drawn to. Let me know what you'd like me to offer! 😄🐶🐴

Hard-working lesson ponies deserve some me-time🧘‍♀️ and pain control without medications 😌☯️

Loving my new electroacupuncture unit! It works by sending a gentle pulse through connected needles, creating controlled nerve stimulation. This activates the body’s natural pain-control pathways in the brain and spinal cord, increasing release of endogenous opioids (endorphins, enkephalins) as well as serotonin and norepinephrine. These are the same systems many pain medications target, but using the body’s own chemistry. This is the stuff that drew me to getting acupuncture certified in the first place! Pretty cool right?

ECVA Case Feature: Coco 🤍 17-year-old Shih-Tzu

Coco came for integrative supportive care alongside her medical treatment for heart disease, kidney disease, and newly-onset seizures. Coco's parents reached out to help control Coco's seizures, which had started 2-3x weekly since November.

We began acupuncture in early January using a gentle and low-stress approach. Over the next 8 weeks and 3 acupuncture treatments, her seizure frequency dropped to just 2 episodes in total.

Acupuncture works in cases like Coco's by stimulating peripheral nerves to send inhibitory and calming signals to the brain. This stabilizes neurons and reduces the hyper-excitable state that causes seizures.

Since starting care, Coco's tongue color has normalized from purple to pink, her energy has improved, and her family reports she’s enjoying walks and eating great!

My goal with these treatments isn’t to replace conventional medicine, but to support comfort and quality of life, especially for senior patients like Coco. 🐶

Me and my friend Rigatoni (the biscuit chef) during his first acupuncture session ☯️

This guy is wide awake and totally unbothered, which surprises a lot of people. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin and designed to gently stimulate the nervous system, not cause pain. Most cats tolerate (and even relax into) treatments once they realize nothing scary is happening like a normal vet visit.

In cats, acupuncture can help with conditions like asthma, arthritis, GI disease, kidney disease, and chronic pain by improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and supporting the body’s own regulatory systems.

No sedation. No restraint. Just calm handling, careful point selection, and letting the patient tell me how much is enough. 💛

Happy to answer questions about how acupuncture can support your cat. Dm me!
