Welcome to the newest member of our family, Dexter. 🖤🐾
After losing our beloved girl, Penny, over Easter, the house felt far too quiet and empty. The silence sat in all the corners she used to fill. We knew eventually another dog would find their way into our hearts, and that brought us to Harbor Humane Society and this goofy, complicated, handsome boy.
Dexter is 2 years old, and the only backstory we know is that he was found as a stray. Whatever life looked like before us clearly left some marks behind. He definitely isn’t a fan of men, and trust has to happen entirely on his terms. We’ve had him for almost 6 weeks now, and little by little, day by day, he is learning that he is safe here.
And once he started settling in… his personality came bursting out like a tornado with four legs. 😂
This boy is FULL of energy and absolutely obsessed with his balls. At first he didn’t even know how to play or take treats, which honestly broke my heart a little. But that learning curve disappeared pretty quickly. Now he has opinions about snacks, toy preferences, zoomie schedules, and probably several neighborhood security concerns.
He’s long and lanky with this big blocky head that somehow makes him look both intimidating and completely ridiculous at the same time. And despite all the uncertainty he still carries, he melts when I tell him he’s a good boy. You can almost see him trying to believe it a little more each day.
Welcome home, Dexter. 🐾
