Coco needs a lifeline 💔
15 pounds. That’s all Coco weighs. Just 15 little pounds and 11 years old, and now his life is hanging by a thread.

Coco is a senior boy on the euthanasia list due to medical concerns, not because he has stopped loving people. Despite everything he’s facing, everyone who has met him describes him as sweet, affectionate, and incredibly tolerant. He still wants to be close to people. His shelter notes state he would enjoy playing, going for car rides, following humans around, and curling up for a nap after a day of fun in his previous home.

This little dog has a large ulcerated mass that is suspected to be cancerous. Even if his condition cannot be completely cured, he deserves comfort, compassion, and the chance to spend whatever time he has left surrounded by love, not to have his story end in a shelter.

Coco knows his name, rides beautifully in the car, and responds to commands like “sit” and “lay down.” His previous family who surrendered him at the shelter shared that one of the things they loved most about him is that he has remained playful and full of spirit, even through life’s recent hardships.

Most of all, Coco deserves the chance to live out the rest of his golden years in comfort, surrounded by love instead of fear. After a lifetime of loyalty, this sweet senior should not have his life end alone in a shelter. He deserves a soft bed, gentle hands, and someone who will remind him every day that he matters.

Please don’t let Coco’s medical diagnosis be the reason he loses his life. He is more than a mass. He is more than a shelter note. He is a loyal little companion with so much love still left to give.

Coco is located in Staten Island, NYC 📍

Please help save Coco. If you can open your home and heart to this little boy, message or call (917) 689 8414. Please fill out the application at AmsterDog.org/application. If you can please share him, your action could be the reason this sweet 15 pound senior gets the second chance he so desperately deserves.

Time is running out. Coco needs a hero today.

Adoption Update: Big Bubba 💙

There is nothing better than seeing a dog finally leave the shelter behind.

When Big Bubba first arrived to the shelter as a stray in December 2025, he carried the scars of a difficult past. Despite old injuries and months spent in the stressful shelter environment and a diagnosis of alopecia, Big Bubba remained hopeful. Beneath it all was a kind, thoughtful dog who simply wanted to feel safe and loved. Unfortunately the shelter environment took a toll on Big Bubba as it became more overcrowded and he found himself on the euthanasia list.

As of very recently, that chapter is over for him.

Big Bubba has officially been adopted, and from the looks of these photos, he’s settling into home life exactly as we hoped he would. Whether he’s flashing his adorable little smile, soaking up affection, or rolling onto his back with all four paws in the air, it’s clear he already feels comfortable enough to let his goofy personality shine.

The dog who once waited behind a kennel door with his life at risk now has a soft place to rest, a person to trust, and the peaceful life he deserved all along.

A huge thank you to Eduardo for opening your heart and giving Big Bubba the fresh start he’s been waiting for. We wish you both a lifetime of love, laughter, belly rubs, and many happy adventures together.

Happy tails, Big Bubba. You beat the odds, and we couldn’t be happier for you. ❤️

UPDATE: we have placement for Remy!! Thank you all for sharing Remy and thank you to his new foster for stepping up when Remy needed it most!

EMERGENCY: REMY IS ON THE EUTHANASIA LIST. HIS TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

We know our page has been filled with urgent SOS posts lately. Believe us, we wish it wasn’t this way. We wish every post could be a happy adoption update instead of another plea to save a life. But this is the heartbreaking reality of rescue. There is always another dog waiting, another dog running out of time, another dog hoping someone will finally choose them, another life hanging in the balance, another plea we pray reaches the right person before it’s too late.

Today, that dog is Remy. Remy is not only on the euthanasia list, Remy is in a pop-up crate tucked away instead of a kennel due to the shelter being well over capacity. Remy waits for a family that will not come.

And with every passing day, his window of opportunity grows smaller. The cruel irony is that everyone who actually spends time with him loves him. Volunteers adore him. He has wonderful manners on and off leash, play bows with other dogs, sits politely for treats, takes them gently, and absolutely loves affection. He’s the kind of dog people dream of adopting. Yet every night, he returns to a pop-up kennel.

The shelter is taking its toll. Remy is underweight, and stressed. Once he’s outside that kennel, his sweet, goofy, social personality shines but time is no longer on his side.

Remy doesn’t have the luxury of waiting for the “perfect” family. His time to find safety is quickly slipping away, and without a foster or adopter, he will not leave the shelter alive.

He should be spending his days on a couch, chasing toys, and soaking up love. Not waiting for his existence to end.

Remy is located in Manhattan, NYC📍

Please don’t let Remy’s story end here.
If you can foster, you will save his life. If you can adopt, you’ll gain an incredible companion. And if you can’t do either, please share him. The person who can save Remy may simply not know he’s there. Please help us get Remy into the loving home he has always deserved. 🩵

If you can foster or adopt sweet Remy, please call or text (917) 689 8414. Please fill out an application at AmsterDog.org/application

Nala is Safe with AmsterDog! 🎉

Just an innocent puppy whose only crime was being excited to see her family member and accidentally scratching them during a friendly hello - except that "family" didn't give her a second chance, nor teach her appropriate puppy manners but instead abandoned her carelessly at the shelter... sweet little Nala experienced such terrible heartbreak at the tender age of 10 months old.

Thankfully, a previous adopter noticed Nala's adorable floppy ears in time and knew what an unfair hand this poor soul had been dealt. They graciously opened their heart & home to Nala - and now she finally, truly has her happily ever after ✨️

Happy Tails, Nala! 🎉

psst - check out our reel from earlier today capturing all of Nala's precious freedomlicious moments 👀

Adoption Update: Shai 🩵

Back in the fall of 2024, we posted a plea for sweet Shai, a beautiful 9-year-old Husky who was about to lose her home. We hoped someone would see what we already knew, that she was an incredible dog who deserved a second chance.

Shai was adopted in October 2024, and nearly two years later, it’s safe to say she hit the jackpot. Now 11 years old, she’s thriving with her dad, Luis, and her two fur siblings. Whether she’s claiming the comfiest bed in the house or making everyone laugh with her classic goofy Husky antics, Shai is living the life every senior dog deserves.

Thank you, Luis, for opening your heart and home to this special girl and giving her the happy ending we all hoped for. Seeing Shai so loved and content is the best update we could have asked for.

🎉UPDATE: CASH HAS A FOSTER! Cash is now SAFE. Thank you so much to everyone who applied, left messages, shared Cash’s post. We could not have done this without all of you. 🐾

🚨 🆘 EMERGENCY: CASH HAS BEEN GIVEN THE RUNAROUND, AND HIS TIME IS ALMOST GONE

Cash has already lost everything once. Now, he’s losing his chance at life.

This morning, while his transporter was already waiting at the shelter to pick him up and bring him to safety, the rescue received a heartbreaking message.

His foster backed out. With one simple phone call, Cash’s entire future disappeared.

This sweet little boy has been given the runaround over and over again. He was surrendered by the only family he had ever known, terrified and severely matted, then left to deteriorate in the shelter. Just when he finally had a way out, that plan fell apart at the very last second.

Now his new deadline is coming up within a day. There is almost no time left to find another foster or adopter before it’s too late.

Cash is only 16 lbs., but he is carrying a lifetime of heartbreak. Beneath the fear is a playful little dog who loves toys, loves people, and deserves the chance to become himself again. The shelter isn’t showing the real Cash it is showing a dog who has been broken by stress, confusion, and disappointment.

Cash was surrendered after spending his entire life with one family. He arrived terrified, severely matted, and carrying painful knots throughout his tiny body. He has been completely overwhelmed in the shelter, and every extra day there is taking a greater toll on him.

He isn’t a bad dog, he is a scared dog, a confused dog.
A heartbroken dog who desperately needs someone to show him that people won’t keep giving up on him.
How many more times can this little dog be let down?

He was promised a way out. His freedom ride showed up. His bags were metaphorically packed. Then, moments before he was supposed to leave, the door slammed shut.

The transporter had to leave the shelter since Cash had nowhere to be taken to. Now Cash is left sitting in his kennel wondering why no one came for him.

💔 He cannot keep surviving one disappointment after another.

A foster or adopter is urgently needed RIGHT NOW. Please don’t wait for someone else to step up. If you have room in your home, you can save his life.
Please share Cash everywhere. Please tell friends, family, coworkers or anyone who may be able to foster or adopt.

His new deadline is only moments away, and every minute that passes brings him closer to becoming another dog who simply ran out of time not because he wasn’t worthy, but because he had nowhere left to go.

If you can open your heart and home to poor Cash, please message or call (917) 689 8414. Please fill out an application at AmsterDog.org/application

He is located in Queens, NYC📍

Please help us change the ending to Cash’s story before it’s too late.

Meet Neptune 🖤 🤎
At just a year old and 8.7 pounds, this possibly Maltese/
Yorkie mix is as sweet as they come. It’s hard to understand how a dog this friendly ended up as a stray.

She loves everyone she meets, including children, gets along well with other dogs and cats, and has a fun, playful personality. She’s still very much a puppy at heart and is always ready for an adventure.

Her foster dad, Steve Forino says she’s the complete package, a happy, affectionate little dog who will make an incredible addition to any family.

She’s healthy, microchipped, up to date on her vaccines, and travels well. She’s also been enjoying a little pampering, she recently had a spa day and loved every minute of it.

Like many young dogs, she’s still working on her leash manners. She gets excited on walks because she wants to greet every person and dog she sees, but with a little consistency she’ll catch on quickly.

If you’re looking for a small dog with a big personality, Neptune checks all the boxes. She’s affectionate, social, and deserves a family that will love her for the rest of her life.

If you would like to adopt precious little Neptune, please fill out the application at AmsterDog.org/application

VALOR is safe with AmsterDog! 🎉

Now that he's out of the shelter sweet Valor is all smiles - and so are we! 🥰😍

At the end of May, This poor middle aged man was found abandoned, tied to a pole before being brought to the overcrowded shelter. When he should have been enjoying familiar comforts, all of a sudden everything was so unknown and scary. Despite being terrified, Valor showed how smart he was by quickly learning cues and the way he loved toys, carrying a soft toy around in his mouth, immediately stole our hearts. All too soon Valor became at risk. We had to post him, try to help him - amazingly, a wonderful foster stepped up to whisk him away to the cozy safety of his home! And we are eternally grateful to him. 🙏

This toy-loving, happy guy soaking up the freedom of his foster home is EVERYTHING right now ❤️

Welcome to the start of your happily ever after, Valor! ✨️

Thank you for honoring your pledges- Your support is deeply appreciated!

Marble is adopted! 🎉

At the end of April, an underweight and stressed little dog was found all by himself near the expressway in Staten Island. His rescue had a rough start when the person who found him finally gave him a meal - but unfortunately disturbed him when he started to eat and nipped her. Who knows how long he had gone hungry and he sure didn't know he was going to get another meal. Well, his finder took him straight to the shelter and dumped him, now with baggage that made him "less adoptable" - and within a few weeks he became at risk for euthanasia. Poor little Marble just couldn't catch a break 💔

That is, until one of our awesome fosters saw his face and knew he deserved a second chance. and it especially saved a 5 year old cairn terrier down on his luck. We are so grateful we were able to pull Marble to safety to be kept safe, given lots of love (and food!) - and now Marble has found his happily ever after. His new mom was so excited to meet him, she drove from upstate NY to southern NJ to scoop him up in her arms 💖

Happy Tails, Marble! 🎉

Meet Muttley 💗
A tiny Yorkie mix with a heart full of love. At only 7 lbs., he’s the perfect pint-sized cuddle buddy. Despite being approximately 13 years old, he’s remarkably healthy, strong, and recently received a full dental, leaving him feeling his very best.

According to Muttley’s foster dad, Steve Forino, Muttley is wonderfully social and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. He is neutered and up to date in vaccinations. After going through a lot recently, all he wants now is a peaceful home, a warm lap, and someone to love him as much as he’ll love them.

Affectionately known as Buddy, he happily responds to his nickname and has the sweetest, most gentle personality. He’s a calm, happy little companion who enjoys leisurely walks, handles stairs with ease, and is perfectly content spending time by your side. He’s both housebroken and wee pad trained, making him an easy addition to just about any home.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who asks for nothing more than kindness, comfort, and companionship, Muttley is ready to spend his golden years making every day a little brighter.

If you would like to adopt Muttley, please fill out the application at AmsterDog.org/application
