This happened yesterday with this “feral” cat…
Sun Mom is still hospitalized. She isnt getting any better despite her fourth and fifth antibiotics and an antiviral.
What’s next, is expensive-
A specialist consult, a nasal scope…. Maybe biopsy if there is a mass.
Our hope was that she’ll respond enough to be able to go under anesthesia and get a dental and be fixed…but as she is, the vets don’t know if she could handle anesthesia….
And now, this cat, has turned… into not only taking churu from a hand, but also to allowing pets and scritches and pushing her head into his arm for a nap.

All money raised… has been spent- there is a $336 PCR panel that might or might not help her diagnosis.
What she needs: a quiet place to be fostered and continued socializing. Someone who can give meds and is ok with FIV status.
We don’t think what she has is contagious as not one of her four babies got sick.
Sun Mom is showing us she is willing to trust. Without a lot more money-$1500 minimum, we can’t help her.
She is being boarded at moment so that we are sure she gets all medications and can be monitored. That cost is $50-100/day.

If we continue with diagnostics.. a scope… what if it leads to surgery… where can we place her, there are so many unknowns. However the other option is to end her life. Given her unyielding congestion, FIV status and not being responsive to meds, it isn’t a wrong choice. It is a heartbreaking one, for all involved.
