The West Village Veterinary Hospital (WVVH) opened in 1979 offering veterinary care, animal surgery, cat and dog vaccines, general pet health, and dental care to pet owners in the West Village, Greenwich Village, Meatpacking and Chelsea neighborhoods. After nearly 30 extraordinary years at our original NYC location on Washington Street, we moved the animal hospital to a much larger facility in the

summer of 2008. Our location on Eighth Avenue allows us to serve the neighborhood’s pet health needs in a modern facility where you will continue to find a warm, friendly, neighborhood welcome.

Meet Melissa, LVT! Melissa comes from ☀️ Florida and joined our team in 2018. She has worked in the field since 2017 and her love for Rocky 🐕‍🦺 (pictured above) inspires her to do her work. Melissa lives with her husband and toddler in Queens. When she’s not helping make our workflow efficient, she loves reading, visiting her family in Florida, and feeding her pet gecko 🦎, Sally!

Meet Ashleigh, LVT! You maybe have also seen her at . Ashleigh worked in emergency medicine in Long Island for 5 years before joining our team about a year ago. Ashleigh lives in the UWS with her 2 rabbits, Shadow & Luna 🐰🐇. She loves reading, hanging out with friends, and watching horror films 😱! “My favorite part of my job is being able to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.” 🙊

Happy October! 10/12 is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! While we appreciate all of our support staff year round we would like to use this month to highlight the incredible team at !

Meet Audrey, LVT! She is also our assistant hospital manager. Audrey is our most veteran hospital employee since 2003! Audrey lives with her family, 2 cats, and yorkie in Long Island 🐱🐈‍⬛🐶. When she’s not monitoring for surgery or pulling blood from difficult veins for us, she enjoys event planning, working out, and spending time with her grandbaby boy.

Thank you Audrey for all the support you have given to everyone here. You are an integral part of the backbone of our hospital. 💪

Meet our vets!👩‍⚕️

Dr. Ally Hart joined West Village Vet in 2023. Dr. Hart loves her geriatric patients, especially chichis like Pickle (swipe left). All patients love her bubbly personality! 🫧

Why are you a vet?
I have wanted to be a vet since I was in preschool. When I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I responded “a veterinarian or a pop star” and unfortunately, I am not good at singing or dancing. My love for animals and science kept me motivated to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Fun fact?
My (not so) secret hobby is my interest in astrology- I pride myself in being able to guess people’s astrological signs based on their character traits. Maybe one day I’ll start guessing my patient’s star signs as well 💫 🐕 🐈‍⬛

Dr. Sonia Gi joined West Village Vet in 2020. She is certified in acupuncture and has knowledge of herbal medicines for pets! Dr. Gi also loves surgery and dentistry. Jack is her St. Kitts rescue pup! 🏝️🐶

Why are you a vet? Since pets are unable to tell us what’s wrong with them, I enjoy the challenge of having to put the puzzle pieces together to diagnose and treat them. Plus, our patients are super cute 🙂

Meet our vets!👩‍⚕️

Dr. Angela Hildenbrand has worked at West Village Vet for almost a decade after spending a few years in Brooklyn at an internship followed by general practice 🐱🐶 . Her dad (Bob) and her are big Mets fans! ⚾️

Why are you a vet? To me the best part about being a vet is the ability to make a connection with my clients and patients and together figure out the treatment plan that works for everyone- especially with regard to individual abilities and beliefs. This is one of the main reasons why I became acupuncture certified with last year 🪡

Fun fact? Almost 20 (!!) years ago I started at West Village Vet as a volunteer while living in a nearby dorm for my NYU undergrad, so for some of our clients I’ve been around for way longer than 8 years :)
