The West Village Veterinary Hospital (WVVH) opened in 1979 offering veterinary care, animal surgery, cat and dog vaccines, general pet health, and dental care to pet owners in the West Village, Greenwich Village, Meatpacking and Chelsea neighborhoods. After nearly 30 extraordinary years at our original NYC location on Washington Street, we moved the animal hospital to a much larger facility in the

summer of 2008. Our location on Eighth Avenue allows us to serve the neighborhood’s pet health needs in a modern facility where you will continue to find a warm, friendly, neighborhood welcome.

Meet Marisa! Marisa was born and raised in Brooklyn. She joined West Village Vet in 2023 and has worked in the animal field for 25 years. Cats hold a special place in her heart especially her own kitty, Pepsi (pictured above). Marisa is not only a cat mom, but a mother of 2 children!

Meet Jade! Jade joined the team in 2023 and has been working in the animal medicine field for 7 years from grooming, pet sitting, training, and now customer service! Jade also has a special place in her heart for horses. Jade is from NY, but considers herself a Jersey girl at heart. She’s also a licensed massage therapist. Jade loves all things matcha, eating new foods, and traveling to new places.

Thank you, Jade, for your compassion and care! We truly appreciate all the fun holiday activities you organize for our hospital—they bring so much joy to the team. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and we’re grateful for the reliability and support you bring every day.

Meet Taneesha! Taneesha is our Bronx born New Yorker at heart CSR. She joined the West Village team in 2024 and has worked in the vet field for 10 years. Taneesha lives with her sweet tabby, Hunter (pictured above). Taneesha loves to laugh, watch reality tv, the color pink, and is obsessed with being a part of the Beyhive.

Thank you Taneesha for your infectious smile and cool as a cucumber personality. You are the calm in the chaos of veterinary medicine. Your laid back, but hard working personality brings balance and zen to our customer service. Thank you for all that you do!

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! 💛

This week, we’re celebrating the friendly faces who greet you at our front desk. Our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are an essential part of the West Village Vet team. They calm in the chaos, are the reassuring voice on the other end of the phone, and are the first smile our clients and patients see. From juggling schedules to supporting worried pet parents (and the rest of us), they keep everything running smoothly. We’re so grateful for all that they do 🐾

Meet Christina, CSR supervisor! Christina joined the team in 2023 when she moved to NYC from Maryland. She has worked in the veterinary field for 7 years. Christina considers herself a cat person. She grew up with kitties like Cosmo (black) & Henley (grey) pictured above. Christina also loves wildlife and volunteered at the National Zoo and interned at a wildlife rehab in Florida. She also enjoys puzzles, nature walks, and gardening in her spare time.

Thank you Christina for your endless positive energy and attention to detail. Your organization keeps everything running seamlessly and ensures no detail is ever overlooked. We truly appreciate what you bring to the team!

UPDATE: NYC has declared a state of emergency and travel ban due to blizzard conditions therefore we will be CLOSED Monday 2/23. Emergency hospitals (Blue Pearl Midtown and AMC) will remain open.

We will reopen regular hours Tuesday 2/24.

Celebrating Audrey, our long-time LVT and a true pillar of West Village Veterinary Hospital. We said goodbye on Saturday surrounded by both old and new faces—each person a reminder of how many lives she’s touched and how special she is to our team. While we’ll miss her deeply, we’re so excited for her next chapter as she pursues specialty care. She will always be part of our history and our foundation.
