Summer break is officially in session... and Lawrence is hoping it comes with a forever family. ☀️🐾

Lawrence is a 4-month-old Lab mix who somehow ended up all alone in the parking lot of Ye Olde College Inn. Luckily, his story didn't end there.

Thanks to an amazing foster home, this handsome little guy has already graduated with honors in Sit 101 and Kennel Training 101. He's smart, eager to learn, and always ready for extra credit if treats are involved.

His résumé also includes:
🐶 Professional dog playmate
👨‍👩‍👧 Lover of every human he's ever met
❤️ Expert tail wagger
🏡 Growing up way too much in a kennel

Summer is the perfect time to bring home a puppy. Longer days mean more time for walks, adventures, training, and making memories together. Lawrence is ready for all of it... he just needs someone to share it with.

If you've been thinking about adding a puppy to your family, we'd love for you to meet Lawrence.

Apply to adopt at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle

Remember Piggy Stardust? 🐷⚡

Months ago, I rescued this tiny little piglet from the French Quarter, where he was definitely living a life that should have included far fewer tourists and far more snacks.

Fast forward to today...

Piggy (who now answers to Wilburt) has been living his absolute best life in an amazing foster home, and he's officially ready to find his forever family!

He's about 9 months old, neutered, spoiled rotten, and somehow even more charming than when he arrived. He currently weighs around 55 pounds and should stay about that size as long as his forever family sticks to the feeding regimen his foster mom has carefully maintained. (Turns out pigs are a lot like the rest of us... they never met a snack they didn't like.)

Here's what his foster mom has to say:

"Hi! My name is Wilburt. You may remember me as the little piglet rescued from the French Quarter. When my foster mom first met me, I was tiny, scared, exhausted, and convinced I'd never see another meal. Thankfully, I was wrong.

These days, life is pretty fantastic. I love hanging out with my dog siblings, soaking up the sunshine, asking everyone for attention (loudly), and eating... preferably often.

Contrary to popular belief, pigs are actually incredibly clean animals. I don't enjoy mud, and I barely even use my kiddie pool. I'd much rather lounge around than redecorate your yard—I don't dig, and I'm not destructive.

Call my name and I'll come trotting over. If I don't know you, I'll probably ask for a quick sniff before we're officially best friends. I'm gentle, sweet, and I absolutely adore kids. They're my favorite people to cuddle with (when they'll let me)."

So if you've ever thought, "You know what my life is missing? A house pig who comes when called, enjoys sunbathing more than mud, and makes every day a little more entertaining," today might just be your lucky day.

Apply to adopt Wilburt at www.zeusrescues.org and give this former French Quarter piglet the happily ever after he deserves. Thanks! Michelle

Not long ago, Charlie was the little dog who took an entire team of rescuers to catch.

This petite 8-month-old was running scared through Mid-City. Once we safely got her back to Zeus' Place, she made it very clear she wasn't thrilled about the situation. She rode home in a large box, and getting her out required bite gloves, a thick blanket, and a whole lot of patience.

She wasn't aggressive.

She was terrified.

After being vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and medically cleared, Charlie got the opportunity every rescue dog deserves—a foster home.

And that's where everything changed.

Her foster discovered what fear had been hiding all along: a goofy little girl with the longest legs, the tiniest body, and the biggest heart.

Charlie may be a little skeptical of strangers at first, but give her a minute and she'll make a friend every time. She loves long walks, adventures, other dogs, and greeting her people with full-body wiggles when they come home. She's still learning the rules of being a house dog, so she'll need a family committed to continuing her training.

Charlie's story is exactly why fostering matters. A kennel keeps a dog safe. A foster home teaches us who they really are.

Now all she needs is a forever family to write the final chapter.

Apply to adopt Charlie today at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle

Two tiny survivors need a hero.

These two neonatal kittens spent last night alone under a house in Hollygrove while a tropical storm rolled overhead. We hoped their mom would come back for them. She never did.

Their eyes aren't even open yet, which means they're under 11 days old and completely dependent on someone to keep them alive.

They are drinking well from a bottle, but kittens this young need feedings every few hours, help going to the bathroom, and someone experienced enough to recognize when something isn't right. This is not a "learn as you go" foster—we're looking for an experienced bottle feeder or a nursing momma cat who can take them in immediately.

All supplies are provided. You provide the round-the-clock care that gives them a chance.

To foster, apply at www.zeusrescues.org.

Already have an approved foster application? Email [email protected] and let us know you're available. Thanks. Michelle

Some days, we wonder how people can be so cruel.

Other days, we're reminded just how incredible people can be.

Meet Geaux Cup and Cat Stevens.

Geaux Cup was found trapped inside a Go Cup in downtown New Orleans while people were kicking the cup and spitting on it. Thankfully, one compassionate person stopped to investigate, found a tiny kitten inside, and called us to rescue it. She's doing well medically, but after what she's been through, she'd really benefit from a quiet home where she can learn that humans can be kind.

Then yesterday came Cat Stevens.

He was thrown from a truck on the interstate. Somehow, an amazing Good Samaritan was able to stop traffic, rescue him, and rush him to us. We immediately brought him to Metairie Small Animal Hospital when he arrived in shock with a low body temperature and a limp in his back end. Thanks to the incredible team there, he made it through the night and is already looking brighter. Now he just needs a warm place to recover, plenty of naps, and someone to remind him that his worst day doesn't have to define the rest of his life.

Kennels can keep them safe.

Foster homes can help them heal.

❤️ Interested in fostering? Apply at www.zeusrescues.org.

Already have an approved foster application? Email [email protected], and we'll get these babies into loving homes as quickly as possible. Thanks. Michelle

Yesterday’s rescue was just too good not to share.

Yesterday, someone found this little girl living under the Danziger Bridge and brought her to us asking to borrow... a cup of shampoo.

One look at her, and I knew she needed a lot more than a bath.

We immediately rushed her over to Metairie Small Animal Hospital on Freret, where, as always, they didn’t hesitate for a second. Dr. Joe held this sweet girl while Karl, Dawn, and I went to work removing years’ worth of matted fur that had become more like a suit of armor than a coat.

The matting was so severe that it was preventing her from moving normally. Hidden inside those mats were nails so overgrown they had curled back into the pads of her feet. Even worse, every time she went to the bathroom, waste became trapped in the mats, so she was carrying that around with her every single day.

Our amazing groomer, Sophia, then stepped in to carefully remove the thick “fur socks” wrapped around her legs and feet and gave her the finishing touches she deserved.

When we finished the first shave, she weighed exactly 12 pounds.

Then we weighed the fur.

One and a half pounds.

That’s 12.5% of her body weight. For an average 170-pound person, that would be like carrying around more than 21 pounds of hair every day.

Today, for what may be the first time in years, she is clean, comfortable, and able to move the way a dog should.

In less than three hours, this little girl’s entire life changed. She went from surviving under a bridge, trapped inside pounds of painful matted fur, to having a full medical team working on her and a bright future ahead.

This is what your support makes possible.

Thank you to our incredible Zeus’ Rescues team, Sophia, and the amazing staff at MSAH Freret. Every time an animal shows up in need, they don’t ask questions—they simply jump into action.

Rescue isn’t about one person. It’s about a community of people who each play one small part in completely changing a life.

Yesterday, we all got to be part of hers. Michelle

Meet Toast!
Toast is a 3 and a half year old Terrier Chihuahua mix at just under 10 pounds. He’s ready to be the captain of your heart!

He came to Zeus in rough shape and has been filling out nicely. He’s very wary of new people but comes out of his shell more quickly than expected! He loves to play with dogs, but he would do best in a home without very small humans. He’s still learning to trust and can get snappy if he feels cornered. He loves to snuggle though!

By the 3rd day he was already jumping in our bed and getting under the covers right next to us. He likes to go for walks too and does well in the car. He’s been very well behaved out in public either at a cafe or just around the park. He does a good job of pottying outside when kept on a schedule.

He loves to roll around in the grass when outside too! He eats like a champ and has no problem giving you those big eyes to ask for just a crumb or two or three!

Those big eyes also do a wonderful job of judging you, but they sure are cute! He really wants to be your new best friend!

Toast is up to date on shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. You can see more pictures and videos on his foster Instagram page .

Apply to adopt at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle

Meet Florin: proof that sometimes life takes a wrong turn before it gets you exactly where you're supposed to be.

Back in April, this 8-month-old Lab/Shepherd mix was found after being hit by a car on Napoleon Avenue right in front of our old building. Whether someone thought Zeus' Rescues was still there, whether she was dumped, or whether fate simply decided to intervene, we'll probably never know.

What we do know is that Florin landed exactly where she needed to.

She arrived with a fractured pelvis that thankfully did not require surgery, but did require something far more difficult for a puppy: MONTHS of cage rest. While other dogs were running, playing, and causing general puppy chaos, Florin was under strict doctor's orders to stay still.

And she did it like a champ.

Now the hard part is over, and Florin has officially been cleared to start living her best life.

Since arriving, she has been:
✅ Spayed
✅ Fully vaccinated
✅ Dewormed
✅ Microchipped
✅ Protected with ProHeart
✅ Extremely patient while waiting for her turn

And now she's ready to test out that healed pelvis by sprinting down St. Charles Avenue, chasing toys, making dog friends, and generally making up for all the puppy fun she missed.

Florin absolutely adores other dogs, loves human attention, and has never met a lap she wasn't willing to attempt to squeeze into despite her gro wing size.

She's got the goofy puppy energy, the sweet personality, and the second chance she deserves.

The only thing missing is a family.

If you're looking for a young dog who has already proven she's tougher than most and sweeter than all of them, Florin is ready to meet you. Apply online at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle

Meet Pepe Cacio.

Yes, that's his full name. No, he has not yet earned a Michelin star, but he does consider cold carrots a five-star dining experience.

Pepe is a 6-month-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix weighing in at a perfectly portable 10.5 pounds. That's 10.5 pounds of zoomies, mischief, charm, and confidence that somehow takes up the space of a 90-pound dog.

This little guy approaches life with the enthusiasm of someone who just drank three espressos and got promoted. Every toy is the best toy. Every person is a potential best friend. Every day is an adventure waiting to happen.

His hobbies include:
🥕 Devouring cold carrots with the passion of a tiny food critic
🏃 Running laps around the house for reasons known only to him
🎾 Turning ordinary objects into exciting games
👑 Supervising all household activities
❤️ Loving his people with his entire oversized personality

Pepe is active, fun-loving, and always ready for whatever comes next. Whether it's a walk, a play session, or simply following you around to make sure you're doing everything correctly, he's all in.

At just 10.5 pounds, he's the perfect blend of lap dog and adventure buddy. Small enough to carry, big enough to keep life interesting.

If your home could use a little more laughter, a little more energy, and a lot more personality, Pepe Cacio is ready to spice things up. Apply at www.zeusrescues.org. Thanks! Michelle
