A friend & I went to visit my buddy, Fiano, at The Tell Me Bar. I traumatized him a few weeks ago by trapping, neutering, & releasing him & was afraid he’d avoid me. But he stretched out at our feet & curled on my lap! The bar owner says he’s around all the time now. TNR works to reduce stray populations—& the kitties are appreciative. ❤️

The dogs in our care really become family. I feel fortunate that they were in our lives & gave us so many great memories...

The dogs in our care really become family. I feel fortunate that they were in our lives & gave us so many great memories, but we’re gonna miss sweet Henry and Max (& Duncan, who passed away last year). My heart goes out to their owners, who are both dogless now. Time for a good cry. 💔

An emotional night. Found an injured mourning dove at my pet sit tonight. After caring for the pets, I captured the bird & drove him(her?) straight to the only person with avian knowledge I know. We gave it fluids & were going to try to clean it up & bandage it, but it had been clearly attacked by another animal & was in distress. My friend said even a drop of blood is too much for a bird to lose, & it was bleeding far more than the photos indicate. So we sat with it until it struggled through its last breath. Oh, my heart just shattered at the end…&, as is often the case, was relieved that it wasn’t suffering anymore. While there is some comfort in knowing it passed away with caring people to witness it, I do not wish to be a witness anymore. Rest in peace, sweet dove, symbol of peace. 💔
