Serving the community through the practice of quality veterinary medicine by using Our goal is to have a long history of serving Story County.

Community Veterinary Clinic has a short history, but has been a dream for twenty years. Dr. Sherrie Pleis and her husband have been wanting to get back to Story County ever since they went to Iowa State University. As friends and family settled in Story County the desire to come back home became evident. By taking a chance the Community Veterinary Clinic was born. The inspiration for community in the veterinary world came from the books of James Herriot. His books inspired the owner to have a desire to serve people and animals alike. The owner has deep respect for the animal human bond and the preservation of the livestock industry.

Deaf dogs are more common than most people realize, and many look and act no different than any other dog. Hearing loss can be present from birth or develop gradually with age, and certain breeds, including Dalmatians, Australian Shepherds, and some terriers, are more likely to be born at least partially deaf.

Watch for signs like not responding to their name, sleeping more deeply than usual, or startling easily. When approached with guided training and meaningful adjustments to care, you can create a safe environment where they can be happy, safe, and at peace.
