Helping Outside Animals Rescue

Helping Outside Animals Rescue A foster-based non profit 501 (c)(3) animal rescue in CT run by volunteers with F/T jobs. We work with several reputable rescues.

We feed, trap, transport, foster, and provide medical care for abandoned cats, then get them into safe/loving homes. We work with authorities on enforcing the law pertaining to dogs who are being forced to live outdoors without adequate shelter, food and/or water. We also work on getting help for stray cats and/or TNR.

Handing off free kittens may solve your immediate problem, but too often, it simply passes the problem on to someone else. 😞

One of the most common calls we receive for spay/neuter assistance starts with:
“We rescued this kitten from someone to help them out, but we really can’t afford to get her fixed.”

And sadly, those are just the people who actually reach out for help. Most never do. 😢

If we truly care about cats and kittens and their long-term well-being, we have to think beyond just finding them “a home.” We need to make sure they are going into responsible homes where spay/neuter will absolutely happen. That means taking the time to screen adopters, having an adoption process, and getting mom cat spayed ASAP. ✅

You can safely rehome kittens yourself, but please consider reaching out to a shelter or rescue for guidance on how to do it responsibly and safely.

This crisis is bigger than any one person, rescue, or shelter. We all have to work together to break the cycle and make sure these cats are not continuing to reproduce generation after generation.

👉🏼 Spay/neuter is not just the new owner’s responsibility.
👉🏼 It’s not just the old owner’s responsibility.
👉🏼 It’s not just a rescue’s responsibility.

‼️ It is EVERYONE’S responsibility to make sure it happens. ‼️

Do NOT TRAP WITHOUT A SOLID PLAN. Calling rescues after you trap is not acceptable. Everyone is bursting at the seams, and most vets require an appointment. Making cats sit in traps for days is inhumane!

It still surprises me 😮 how many people trap a cat and assume someone else will automatically be able to step in and help if they haven’t spoken with them beforehand.

The reality is, vets and clinics are doing their best while working with full schedules, limited appointments, and finite resources. Their days are often booked from start to finish. If an appointment wasn’t made ahead of time, it’s unrealistic to expect an open spot waiting for you and a frightened kitty in a trap. 😞

I know how frustrating appointment availability can be. I’ve felt that frustration too. I don’t have the perfect answer to fix it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But this is the system we have, and planning ahead is one of the kindest things we can do.

The #1 rule of trapping:
‼️ HAVE A PLAN BEFORE YOU TRAP‼️

Call. Email. Text. Confirm availability. Make sure there is space, resources, or an appointment secured before you begin. Preparation can be the difference between a smooth outcome and a stressful emergency.

✨ Don’t let your emergency become someone else’s emergency. ✨

The goal is always the same: helping the cat in the safest, most responsible way possible.

🏷️ STILL LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CALL HOME!

Meet Baby Boo — a fully vetted, spayed, and vaccinated girl who has already beaten the odds once and just needs the right home to finally let her guard down.

About 5–6 months ago, Baby Boo was found outside wearing a collar. An advocate took her in and has spent months doing everything possible to help her settle — but she continues to struggle in a multi-cat home. She isn't a problem cat. She's a traumatized one. There's a difference.

Her advocate believes Baby Boo is still carrying the weight of whatever she survived outside. She's safe now, but she's overwhelmed — and what she needs most is a quieter environment, fewer cats, and more one-on-one attention to finally start to decompress.

Here's what we know about her:

🐾 Female, spayed
💉 Fully up to date on vaccinations
✅ FeLV/FIV negative
🏠 Indoor — struggling in a multi-cat household
💛 Sweet and deserving of patience
🙏 Advocate works and attends school full time and is heartbroken — but knows Baby Boo deserves more than they're currently able to give
🚫 Returning her outside is not an option after everything she's been through

Baby Boo is fully vetted and ready to go — the only thing standing between her and a fresh start is the right person saying yes.

We're looking for:
✅ A rescue to take placement
✅ An experienced foster or adopter — quiet home, limited or no other cats preferred
✅ Shares — sometimes the right person just hasn't seen the post yet

📢 *IMPORTANT: We do not have the manpower to monitor comments. If you have any questions regarding this post, please message us directly.

Baby Boo has already survived so much. Let's make sure her story has a happy ending. 🧡

LAST CALL ❗️and we’re so upset over here….

There is no boarding option because that’s precisely how this poor guy got to this point…

Neutered/vx/mc
Housebroken
Crate trained
Well mannered
10 years old
Approx 60 lbs
Good with dogs with slow intros, preferably dogs his size
Very sweet, just wants to be loved and be around his people.
Loves walks and does fantastic on a leash. Loves fetch and laying on the grass.

BARC will consider a foster:
It’s for an indefinite period of time—if you have a “need out by” date, do not apply
If you are the homeowner
If you only have 0-2 chill dogs, max
If you understand decompression & agree to follow it exactly as written
If you have no cats
If you have no kids living in the home
If you have any specific personal requests/requirements please do not apply

Please apply to foster (or adopt) sweet Simba. Adopters can be from any surrounding state; fosters must live in Connecticut

THIS IS CRITICALLY URGENT as he is declining each day as sit in a cage crying and begging for help and it’s cruel and inhumane for anyone to force any dog to live this way. Unless a foster or adopter offering an appropriate home environment steps up, he will not allow him to suffer on our watch. That’s how reality-based, responsible rescue works.

🙏🏼‼️Please understand, THERE IS NO BOARDING OPTION regardless of offers to fund it. There is NO “back up” location or plan. This is it. We are trying by posting but we’re out of time. We tentatively have until this Saturday at the most.

****NO APPS YET as of 12AM 5/28 Thursday

Florida’s new Dexter’s Law is putting convicted animal abusers onto a public registry, creating a searchable database designed to increase accountability after serious cruelty cases shocked the public.

Supporters believe laws like this could help shelters, rescues, adopters, and communities better identify repeat offenders and prevent future abuse before it happens again. Many animal advocates argue that cruelty toward animals is often dismissed too lightly despite research showing links between animal abuse and other forms of violence.

Others believe stronger consequences are long overdue because animals depend entirely on humans for safety and protection.

The law was inspired by horrifying cruelty cases that sparked public outrage across Florida and renewed calls for tougher protections for vulnerable animals.

For many people, this isn’t about punishment alone. It’s about prevention, awareness, and finally treating animal cruelty like the serious warning sign it can be.

**Rescue & Pledges Needed – West Haven** 🐾

A mama cat and her three kittens are in need of rescue, foster placement, and pledges.

Mama is a tuxedo cat—mostly black with a small amount of white on her face and toes. She appears to have been living outside for quite some time, possibly around a year and a half. The finder believes she may have been abandoned when someone moved away.

The kittens are all short-haired and include:
🐾 Baby 1 – tuxedo with a white face mask and white on the chest
🐾 Baby 2 – tuxedo with a mostly black face, white toes, and a small amount of white on the chest
🐾 Baby 3 – gray tabby

The family is currently being fed and watered twice daily, with both wet and dry food provided. Feeding times are approximately 7:45 AM and 6:45 PM.

Right now they are surviving outdoors, but they need safe placement and a plan before something happens to them. Rescue support, fosters, and pledges are urgently needed to help this little family get to safety.

🛑 Please note: Our rescue is currently closed for intakes due to several TNR projects.
