Meet Ashley

Age: 11 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Shorthair (Calico)

Some stories deserve a second chapter.

Ashley arrived at Pet Haven after surviving the devastating Los Angeles fires. Understandably, she was frightened. She spent her days tucked away, unsure of the world around her, and had little interest in the things most cats enjoy. It was clear she had experienced more than any cat should.

Then something wonderful happened.

Ashley found the quiet, patient foster home she needed. With time, consistency, and love, she slowly began to realize she was safe. Little by little, her personality returned. Today, she's a gentle, independent girl who enjoys watching the world from the window, taking long afternoon naps, and sharing quiet moments with the people she trusts.

Ashley isn't looking for a busy household or constant excitement. She's looking for someone who understands that the best relationships are built over time. Give her a cozy window, a peaceful place to nap, and the chance to settle in at her own pace, and she'll reward you with the quiet companionship that only a grateful cat can offer.

After everything she's been through, Ashley deserves a forever home where she can spend her golden years knowing she's safe, loved, and finally home.

Ashley's Highlights

+ Gentle, quiet, and independent
+ Loves sunny windows and long naps
+ Thrives in a calm, consistent home
+ Prefers to be the only cat
+ Litter box trained
+ Looking for a patient family to love her at her own pace

First, what produces a cat’s motor-like purring sound? A purr is a voluntary behavior, a vocalization produced by cats with their mouth closed. This activity produces the purring sound. The purr consists of a continuous vibration as the cat inhales and exhales, with a brief pause in between the two phases.

Why Do Cats Purr?
1. Cats Purr When They’re Content
2. Cats Purr When They’re Anxious
3. Cats Purr When They’re Greeting
4. Cats Purr When They Want Attention
5. Cats Purr When They’re Sick

When a cat is purring, look at their body language and the situation to determine why.

A purring cat that approaches you with their tail held up 🐈 may be greeting you and soliciting attention. But if the cat is crouched down with their ears pulled slightly to the side while purring, they may not be feeling well.

Meet Mitt

Age: 3 months
Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic Shorthair (Tuxedo)

If there’s an adventure to be had, you can count me in!

Hi, I'm Mitt, and I believe the world is one big playground just waiting to be explored. I was found in a baseball field with my mom and siblings, and ever since then I've been discovering just how exciting life can be. Every new room, every toy, and every cardboard box is an opportunity for my next great adventure.

I'm an outgoing little tuxedo with a curious heart and a playful spirit. I love wandering around to see what's happening, checking out every corner of the house, and making sure I'm never too far from the action. Once I've finished my daily investigations, I'm more than happy to settle down for a cozy nap before doing it all over again.

Now that I've grown into a healthy, happy kitten, I'm ready to trade the baseball field for a forever home filled with love, playtime, and plenty of new things to explore. If you're looking for a kitten who will keep life interesting and make you smile every single day, I think we'd make a pretty great team.

Mitt's Highlights

+Curious and adventurous
+Loves exploring new places
+Playful and full of kitten energy
+Friendly and affectionate
+Neutered and ready to go home
+Looking for a family to grow up with

Meet Tucker

Some of the best friendships take a little time, and Tucker is proof that they're worth the wait.

This handsome tuxedo boy may be a little shy when you first meet him, but don't let that fool you. Tucker is quietly watching, learning, and waiting until he knows he's safe. Once he settles in, he'll thank you with gentle purrs, sweet head bumps, and plenty of cuddle time.

Tucker is looking for a patient family who understands that every cat adjusts differently. He isn't the type to steal the spotlight on day one, but give him a little grace, a cozy place to hide, and lots of love, and you'll watch his confidence grow more every day.

He's a young cat with many happy years ahead of him and would love nothing more than a home where he can finally relax, play, and become your loyal companion. Tucker also does well with children who understand how to respect a cat's space while he settles in.

Tucker's Highlights

+Handsome tuxedo gentleman
+Young and playful
+Affectionate once he feels comfortable
+Looking for a patient family willing to let him adjust at his own pace
+Good with respectful children
+Litter box trained

Meet Buggy

Age: 12 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Some cats quietly observe life from across the room.

Buggy prefers a front-row seat.

If you're folding laundry, she'll be there. Cooking dinner? She'd love to supervise. Watching television? Scoot over, there's room for one more on the couch.

Buggy is a confident, outgoing girl who believes life is simply better when it's shared. She loves being involved in whatever her people are doing and isn't shy about letting you know what's on her mind. Whether she's greeting you at the door, carrying on a conversation, or following you from room to room, Buggy has a wonderful way of making a house feel like home.

Don't let her age fool you, this sweet senior still has plenty of curiosity and enjoys exploring her surroundings. She has an adventurous spirit balanced perfectly with a loving, affectionate nature. At the end of the day, she's happiest relaxing beside her favorite people after a hard day's work of supervising the household.

Buggy gets along well with other cats, is litter box trained, and is looking for a family who appreciates a companion with plenty to say and even more love to give. If you've been searching for a best friend who will always be by your side, Buggy is ready to apply for the position.

Buggy's Highlights

+ Confident and outgoing
+ Affectionate companion who loves being with her people
+ Vocal and enjoys "chatting"
+ Curious and adventurous
+ Good with other cats
+ Litter box trained
+ Declawed
+ Looking for a family to supervise with love

**Meet Alfredo**

My name may be a word for "fancy noodles", but I am through and through a farm boy. I was born and raised on a goat farm along with many other cats. I was part of a colony of wild cats, though I love humans. Playing, cuddling, getting pets, anything that involves getting attention from humans I enjoy. The kids from the farm even taught me how to play 🐾with human hands. I have been told that not everyone likes it, but that just means those people haven’t tried it with me yet. Even with the life I’ve lived so far, I’d be fine being an indoor cat as long as I had many many hands to pet me and for me to play with. I would still be fine being a farm cat as well though as unlike other cats I have the experience and love to hunt.. If you want a good friend that’ll be there through thick and thin, I’m your guy👍🏻. 🐾

Empower your feline friends with kindness and compassion! The Feline Veterinary Medical Association takes a strong stance against declawing as an elective procedure, as it can lead to long-term health and behavioral issues in cats. Instead, educate caregivers on effective and humane alternatives like scratching posts, claw trimming, and environmental enrichment that cater to your cat's natural instincts. By doing so, you'll not only improve your cat's overall well-being but also strengthen the bond between you and your feline companion. Let's choose compassion and kindness for our feline friends, and provide them with the care and respect they deserve! 🐾 By making informed decisions about their health and welfare, we can create a better world for our furry friends to thrive in. So, join us in promoting a culture of kindness and compassion towards all animals, and let's make a positive impact on their lives! 🐾❤️

Adult cats should eat enough of a high-quality, nutritious food to meet their energy needs and to maintain and repair body tissues. The amount you feed your adult cat should be based on his or her size and energy output. Activity levels vary dramatically between pets and will play an important role in determining caloric intake.

All cats require taurine, an amino acid that is important for normal heart function, vision and reproduction. Since taurine is found only in animal-based protein, all cats need meat-based diets to meet their nutritional requirements.

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that all cats be fed twice daily using the portion control feeding method. Start by dividing the amount suggested on the label of your pet’s food into two meals, spaced eight to twelve hours apart.

Obesity is an extremely common problem in pets and, as with humans, can be detrimental to the health of a cat. The overweight pet has many added stresses upon his body and is at an increased risk of diabetes, liver problems and joint pain. As a subjective assessment of body condition, you should be able to feel the backbone and palpate the ribs in an animal of healthy weight. If you cannot feel your pet’s ribs without pressing, there is too much fat.

Are you committed to your pet’s weight loss? Here are some important things you can do:

🐈Remove the pet from the room when the family eats.
🐾Feed your pet several small meals throughout the day.
🐈Feed all meals and treats in the pet's bowl only.
🐾Reduce snacks or treats.
🐈Provide non-food related attention.
