With Hurricane Erin coming, make sure you have what you need for your PET if you have to evacuate! You should bring enough food, medicine and sanitation needs to last at LEAST a week (if not more!) Also, make sure you have VACCINATION records on all your pets.

As of right now, Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands have mandatory evacuation orders. A Coastal Flood Watch has also been issued for Dare County.

The Outer Banks SPCA has spare crates if you are planning on evacuating! Contact them if you need one.

Most importantly, if you don’t have a plan - start making one NOW in case more places in the Outer Banks have to evacuate!

Almost 22 million dogs in the US are suffering with allergic itch. Over 9 million go untreated.

Signs of allergic itch are frequent licking, chewing, biting or scratching, excessive rolling, rubbing or scooting, recurrent ear problems, hair loss, body odor or a rash, redness, greasy skin or scabs. If you notice your pet having any of these signs, give us a call to schedule an appointment.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection spread through the urine of wildlife, rodents, and other animals. Often found in standing water like puddles, ponds, or streams. It can cause serious illness in dogs and can even spread to humans.

Today is Fresh Breath Day! 😸

If your dog’s kisses come with a side of “what is that smell??” or your cat’s yawn could knock you out… it might be time for a dental checkup.

Bad breath can be more than just unpleasant—it can be a sign that your pet’s teeth and gums need a little attention. Most dogs and cats develop periodontal disease by 3️⃣ years old! Regular brushing is so important to help keep your pet healthy. But there can be other underlying issues causing bad breath such as chronic illness.
