This week brought some resurfacing and drainage updates to the farm! Our track shelter and loafing area got an upgrade with new footing and a big sandy rolling pit for the horses.

Safe to say they have quickly given it their approval! Check out Remy using the newly gentled slope for a morning psoas stretch 😃

✨Track Boarding Availability!✨

We have 1 spot open for boarding on our full care track system. Track system boarding is a natural way of horse-keeping focused on movement, nutrition, foraging, and friendship.

This is ideal for horses who need more movement, thrive with daily enrichment, have dietary restrictions or insulin resistance, or those in need of hoof rehab!

Track board includes high quality tested Timothy/orchard hay year round, customized forage based meals with balanced vitamin and mineral supplements included.

Hay is fed in slow feed hay nets placed around the track at varied heights to promote passive stretching, and in hay stations complemented by mud stabilization grids for stability and hoof protection. Cost is $750/month.

In addition to the track, boarders also have access to our on site trails, arena, round pen, obstacle practice area, barn with individual tack lockers, wash racks, and trailer parking.

404-368-8514 or PM to schedule a tour!

We made 4 different teas for the track horses as an enrichment activity after such a hot and miserable week here in Georgia! This is initial reactions from some of the herd, looking forward to seeing what’s left at the end of the day! Love how the boys both went deep diving 😂

Our track system is designed with multiple hay stations to encourage the horses to move more throughout the day. But when triple digit temps are expected like the next few days, we like to put extra hay nets in the woods so they can still have plenty of forage and stay in the shade. (Who wants to exercise in 104 degrees??) The hay nets are hung at different heights and drawstring lengths to promote passive stretching and core engagement. Track enrichment in extreme temps can be challenging but we have some fun ideas planned for the summer including a water buffet, looking forward to seeing what they think!

Nothing beats these summer skies! (Except when they suddenly turn dark and scary like this week!)

Some of the Pasture C girls enjoying their oversized shelter today!
We designed this shelter as a “half & half” so the horses can choose to stay out of the wind in the winter or have shade and a breeze in the summer.

We had an exciting week this week as we welcomed our newest rehab boarder, Pantera, all the way from Long Island! Pantera has a history of laminitis/founder and chronic hoof pathology. After speaking with her owner we agreed that she is a perfect candidate for our track system.

She arrived with metal heartbar shoes on her front feet and after taking a couple days to settle in we were able to get them pulled and set her up in a pair of Easycare Cloud Boots.

We’re looking forward to introducing her to the track life and posting about her progress!

King and Rain are prone to sunburn on their pink noses. When they don’t have their UV protection masks on they love finding shade in their new shelter from Back Home Structures!
