Got a fruit tree that isn’t producing what you hoped?

This grafting method allows you to change varieties without replanting, using established roots to grow something new.

Learn how it works at our hands on top working workshop on Saturday April 11th from 11 AM - 1 PM at the HOEC Community Orchard in Oregon City.

We will go over many other types of grafting cuts as well: whip and tongue, cleft, in arch, rind, and bridge.

This last chicken mom was very confident in her abilities and hatched 14 chicks. I however was not so confident in her abilities to count to 14 and keep track of all 14 so I moved them into a chicken tractor so they have shelter, safety from predators, food, water and a better chance for survival. For those keeping count , my chicken baby explosion is up to 26. Which is good that's about the number lost to the Raccoon incident of 2025. Except these will be 50% roosters and all will lay green eggs.

It took a while to process all the tomatoes but I did it. I even thought ahead and made some tiny jars for mozzarella cheese sticks. My 20 quart pot wasn't cooking down fast enough so half of that went into the oven to reduce. I think this was a little more than 50 pounds.

My tomatoes really filled in since the beginning of July. I picked about 50 pounds today and will process them tomorrow evening. I still have strawberries growing in the towers, cucumbers, tomatillos, and a very full yellow egg plum tree. I love knowing where my food comes from. 🌱❤️

The tomatoes are getting close. These few were ready. I see a few more starting to blush out there. I also see some salsa Verde in my future.
