Rid Your Pet of Fleas with Lavender

Donna Daniels, Yahoo! Contributor Network

Lavender is a natural way to help rid your pet of fleas. Fleas love to make a home on your pet. Fleas are irritating and make life miserable for those that have the fleas. Fleas love to bite and cause skin to itch, hurt or worse. If you or your pet, are allergic to fleas then having a flea infestation can be agony.
Lavender can help you get rid of fleas. You need to have pure lavender oil to make the lavender work. Fake lavender oil will not be as effective at ridding your pet of fleas.

Pure lavender oil can be irritating if you put it directly on skin so it is best to mix lavender oil with another oil like olive oil so it is less irritating to skin. Lavender body rub is the best since the lavender oil is mixed in with an element that is not harmful to skin.

Place some of the lavender oil mix on the palm of your hand and then rub your hands together so the lavender is spread over the inside surface of your hands. Then rub your hands on your pet. Continue rubbing the lavender oil mix on your pet until you have covered your pet completely with the lavender oil mix. You don't have to get your pet sopping wet just make it so the pet smells like lavender oil all over.

Keep rubbing your pet with lavender oil mix every day until your flea problem is gone. You can even put lavender oil other places to get rid of fleas but always test a small unnoticed area with the lavender oil before you use it to see if an undesirable reaction occurs.

Lavender sachets placed in problem areas helps to rid the areas of fleas. You can rub a lavender sachet on your pet to help keep fleas away. Fill your home with dried lavender to help keep your home safe from fleas. Since fleas do not like lavender the lavender that you decorate your home with will keep fleas away.

You can buy dried lavender sachets and place them on your pet's bed. You can get bouquets of lavender and place them around your home. Or you can place bowls of lavender blossoms around your home.

Always test to see if your pet can tolerate lavender by placing a small spot of lavender on you pet and looking for a reaction.

This is Nico's cohort, Jascha, named after Jascha Heifetz, another famed violinist ( do you see a musical theme here? ). Ravencroft is not only a place to find lavender, herbs, and great views, it also a place to hear fine classical music.
