As fun as Halloween can be for us, it can be scary and confusing for our dogs! Between costumes, noises, and decorations, even the calmest pup can feel overwhelmed.

• Leash your dog during trick-or-treating — even the most social pups can react unexpectedly to strange costumes or sudden movements.
• Skip the costume if your dog seems stressed — many pups find tight or bulky outfits uncomfortable or even threatening.
• Avoid the candy — chocolate and artificial sweeteners can be dangerous for dogs.
