Halloween candy bowl audit. 🍫🎃

Not all candy is equally dangerous for dogs. The worst offenders:

🚨 Sugar-free gum and candy (xylitol) can crash blood sugar fast
🚨 Dark and baking chocolate are far more toxic than milk chocolate
🚨 Raisins can cause kidney damage
⚠️ Wrappers and lollipop sticks can cause blockages

Your pet can't say "I don't feel good." But they are telling you. 🐾

These four things are easy to dismiss, and they're also the ones we wish more owners had caught sooner:
🔴 Drinking noticeably more water than usual
🔴 Sleeping way more than normal
🔴 Eating less, or refusing food entirely
🔴 Licking or chewing one spot over and over

Any one of these on its own might be nothing. But your gut usually knows when something's off with your animal. Better to call and find out it's fine than wait and wish you hadn't.

The leaves are turning, the air is cooling down, and your dog is absolutely thrilled about all of it. 🍂🐾

Here's the thing though, fleas and ticks don't care about the calendar. In Arkansas, parasites stay active well into fall. A lot of pet owners stop prevention in September because it "feels like summer is over." That's exactly the window fleas are waiting for.

Why does my dog eat grass? 🌿 Honestly, science doesn't have a definitive answer, and we find that kind of great. Some dogs eat grass when their stomach feels off.

Some do it out of boredom. Some just genuinely enjoy it. Most of the time it's completely harmless. When it's worth a call to us: if they're eating grass constantly and vomiting frequently, that can signal an underlying issue that deserves a look.
