🎄 Christmas Craft Play dates at Golden Acres Ranch! 🎄

We know, we know… it’s Halloween week. 🎃
But Christmas will be here before we know it, so Bobbie says it’s time to start making ornaments!

Come spend a few hours with us at Golden Acres Ranch and learn how to make your own needle-felted Christmas ornaments. Snowmen, penguins, Santas, snowflakes—or whatever little Christmas character you decide your wool wants to become!

Bobbie will show you how to take wool and a felting needle and turn it into a one-of-a-kind ornament for your Christmas tree.

Take a look at some of the ornaments she has already made for inspiration!

We’re offering two Playdates:
🎄 Thursday, October 29 | 10 AM–1 PM
🎄 Saturday, October 31 | 10 AM–1 PM

Come to one or both!
There is no charge—just come ready to learn, create, visit and have some fun.

📍 Golden Acres Ranch
704 Barnes Rd.
Monticello, FL 32344

📱 Please call or text Bobbie to let us know you’re coming:

No experience necessary. Your snowman does not have to look like Bobbie’s snowman. In fact, we think they’re more fun when they have personalities of their own. ☃️❤️

Come play with wool and get a little head start on Christmas with us at Golden Acres Ranch!

🌳 Fall is for planting Mayhaws!

Want to add a little piece of North Florida tradition to your yard?

Now is a great time to plant a Mayhaw tree! Planting this fall gives your tree time to settle in and begin establishing its roots over the cooler winter months so it's ready to get growing when spring arrives.

And if you're worried about those cold winter nights, we'll help you with that too. We'll be sharing some of the things we do here at Golden Acres Ranch—using mulch, straw and strategic watering to help protect young trees when temperatures drop.

We have a limited number of known Mayhaw varieties ready to go into the ground:

🌿 Monticello
🌿 Double G
🌿 Surprise

Mayhaws make beautiful landscape trees, and you don't need a swamp to grow one! Give them good sunlight, room to grow and regular water while they're getting established.

Better yet, plant more than one—Mayhaws are self-pollinating, but they can do even better with other Mayhaw trees nearby.

🍎 Plant this fall. Let those roots get established. And when spring rolls around, your Mayhaw will already be home.

Limited quantities available at Golden Acres Ranch.

Message Bobbie at (850) 508-2607 with questions and to arrange pick up.

👉 Learn more about growing Mayhaw trees on the Golden Acres Ranch website.

Mayhaw Berry Trees make great landscape plants. It's a myth that they have to grow in water. They are actually drought-tolerant as well as flood-tolerant. Find out more about this unique Southern Treasure.

PLAYDATES WITH BOBBIE — LET’S PLAY WITH WOOL!

Did you miss our last wool playdate? Or maybe you heard about it afterward and thought, “I wish I had gone!”

Well, Bobbie is doing it again — THREE times!

Come spend a morning at Golden Acres Ranch and learn what happens to wool after it comes off the sheep. Bobbie will take you through the process and give you a chance to see it, touch it, try it and ask all the questions you want.

📅 Choose your Playdate:
🐑 Saturday, September 19🐑 Friday, September 25🐑 Saturday, September 26
⏰ 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
📍 Golden Acres Ranch704 Barnes Rd.Monticello, FL 32344

We'll talk about things like:
What do you actually DO with raw wool? How do you clean and prepare it?Is it hard to learn? Can this hobby turn into something you can sell? How do you find a market for what you make? And, of course...is it FUN?

No experience is necessary. You don't need to be a fiber artist, farmer, or crafter. Curiosity is enough.
These aren't formal classes. They're Playdates with Bobbie — informal mornings for learning, trying something new, visiting with others and enjoying a little farm life.

Come ready to participate, or just pull up a chair and watch. Either way, we'd love to have you.

Please reserve your spot by calling or texting Bobbie at 850-508-2607.

Golden Acres Playdate: Let’s Make Jelly!

We have gone from Conversations with Bobbie to Playdates with Bobbie! Because sometimes the best way to learn something new is simply to come out to the farm and play!

🍇 Thursday, August 20, 2026
⏰ Starting at 10:00 AM
📍 Golden Acres Ranch
704 Barnes Rd., Monticello, FL

Years ago, we held jelly-making classes here at Golden Acres, and the basic recipe has not changed much, although Bobbie has modernized some of the equipment!

Her friend David still likes to make jelly the old-fashioned way, without pectin. It takes forever, but apparently all that stirring is good therapy.

As Bobbie says, “I could use some therapy, but not THAT much!” 😂

On Thursday, we are going back to the beginning. We will wash the berries, boil them to make juice, gather our jelly-making supplies, and work our way through the process together.

You can jump in and get your hands involved, or you’re perfectly welcome to watch, rest, visit, ask questions, and enjoy the company. That is the beauty of a playdate!

And if you have ever wondered where those berries come from, that is an adventure all its own. When harvest season arrives in April, we put on our waders, get into the water, drag buckets along in a canoe, shake the trees, and scoop up the berries. Then comes cleaning, drying, and packaging.

By next April we will be too busy harvesting for classes, so now is your chance to learn the process and decide whether jelly making is as much fun as it is cracked up to be!

Come curious. Come comfortable. Come ready to learn, laugh and meet some like-minded folks.

Playdates with Bobbie! You are never too old to learn something new or come out to the farm and play.

Please text ahead so we know you are coming: 850-508-2607

Ever Wondered What Happens to Wool After It Comes Off the Sheep?

Come spend a morning at Golden Acres Ranch and find out!

704 Barnes Rd, Monticello, FL 32344

Thursday, August 13

10:00 AM–12:30 PM

Stay longer if you’d like, just bring your lunch!

Bobbie is opening up the workroom for an informal, hands-on morning for anyone curious about learning to work with wool.

We’ll walk through the process together and talk about the questions you might already be wondering:

How do you turn raw wool into something you can actually use?
🧶 Is it easy or hard to learn?
💰 Can you make money doing it?
✂️ Is it expensive to get started?
🛍️ If you make things to sell, how do you find your market?
❤️ And most importantly...is it fun?

No experience necessary. This is about learning, trying something new, asking questions, and spending time with other curious, creative people.

And this is just the beginning!

For the next five weeks, Bobbie will be setting aside time for informal sessions like this as Golden Acres prepares for the North Florida Farm Tour, October 10–11. We’ll also start thinking ahead to fall and holiday projects: Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations, wool dryer balls for gifts, Christmas ornaments, and whatever else inspires us along the way.

Bobbie loves introducing people to farm life, and these gatherings are relaxed, flexible, and a wonderful way to meet like-minded folks.

Come learn. Come create. Come spend a little time at the farm.

Interested in joining us?

Text Bobbie at 850-508-2607 to let her know you’re coming.

We’d love to have you!
