At this time of year, there are few things more frustrating to a rescuer than when people give kittens away to strangers for free! It is irresponsible to do so and almost never in the best interest of the kitten.

We are in the middle of a cat over population crisis because too many individuals have not taken responsibility to fix and vaccinate the cats they have chosen to keep and/or to feed.
Cats are prolific breeders and induced ovulators, so they are prone to be slaves to their hormones until they die or are sterilized.

In a local facebook group post less than two hours ago, an anonymous poster said that a friendly kitten had followed them home and didn't know what to do with them. We headed out immediately to look for the kitten because the photo that was posted clearly indicated that the kitten was in need of veterinary care.

Based on the anonymous poster's comments, they rehomed the kitten to a complete stranger. I can only cross my fingers and hope that the individual taking the kitten has the financial resources to take them to a veterinarian tomorrow for care.

In an increasingly isolated society, I completely understand the appeal of a cute, cuddly kitten. However, if you are not in the position to afford veterinary care for your new family member, it is in that cat's best interest that you seek out a local organization who will take the cat in, give them comprehensive veterinary care, and then find them a home.

Please STOP giving away kittens for free!

🙀🐾The Kitten Shower Surprise We Never Saw Coming!

We are still overwhelmed by the generosity shown at our Kitten Shower this weekend.

While we didn't find homes for any kittens during the event itself, we did celebrate TWO adoptions and welcomed so many wonderful supporters who stopped by to visit, shop, donate, and cheer us on..

But the biggest surprises of the day?!!

We challenged our supporters to help us collect 500 cans of kitten food.

You didn't just meet the challenge...

YOU CRUSHED IT!

Our final count came in at nearly 650 cans of kitten food!!
Along with dry food, KMR, toys.....💖

🙀🎉As if that wasn't enough, we also received two incredibly generous monetary donations that will help us continue caring for the many kittens and cats depending on us during this busy season.

To everyone who donated, attended, shared our posts, brought supplies, or simply stopped by to support us - THANK YOU. The kindness of this community never ceases to amaze us

When we look at all those cans of kitten food, we don't just see donations. We see hungry kittens who will be fed, lives that will be saved, and a community that never stops showing up when they are needed most. While kitten season is far from over and the need never ends, your generosity will make a tremendous difference for the many kittens in our care and those still yet to come ❤️🐾🐈‍⬛

15 traps sent to humane Ohio this week. 10 of the 15 were female. Can you imagine if each of those females had litters of 5 babies (average 4-7).. we prevented at least 50 more babies from being born outside living on the streets. It’s a lot of work, but the time and effort is worth the outcome. We can’t thank the Feline Fund enough for their continued support and efforts at helping us to fund these TNR projects. Together we can make a difference!! 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛💕💕
