Meet North Monroe Animal Hospital's very own candidates for the 1st ever Pet Mayor of West Monroe! Last, but certainly not least - Yondu!

At just one year old, Yondu the long-haired Chihuahua may be new to the game — but don’t let that baby face fool you. This tiny dynamo is running a big campaign with even bigger personality. He’s got a bark that can be heard three parishes over, a suspicious talent for eating anything not nailed down, and an uncanny ability to ignore direct orders — all signs of a true political prodigy.

Despite his age, Yondu already knows how to win hearts (and treats). Whether he’s pestering his older brothers, stealing bites off the coffee table, or demanding attention like he owns the place — he’s a natural-born leader.

He might not know what taxes are.
He might not know what obedience is.
But he does know what the people want: snacks, naps, and someone who’s not afraid to shake things up.

Meet North Monroe Animal Hospital's very own candidates for the 1st ever Pet Mayor of West Monroe! Next is Jonah!

Clumsy. Confused. Completely Committed.

Meet Jonah — a quiet, laid-back 1-year-old longhaired Chihuahua with legs for days and a heart even bigger.

Gentle, sweet, and deeply unsure of what’s happening, Jonah is a new kind of leader. He doesn’t talk much. He doesn’t know what a zoning ordinance is. But he does know how to give really good kisses. And he’ll give one to anyone — constituent, opponent, mail carrier, or squirrel.

Nicknamed Jonah Longlegs for obvious reasons (have you seen those stilts?) and Jonah Bologna for reasons no one quite remembers, this lanky goofball is known for sleeping like a pretzel, politely staring into the void, and occasionally enjoying a worm or two. He recently discovered the joy of swimming, which he approaches with the grace of a deer on roller skates. He’s the proud owner of exactly one brain cell, and that thing is fighting for its life daily. But we love him endlessly and unconditionally.

Though his understanding of local government is… limited at best, his commitment to being a good boy is unwavering. He’s calm. He’s kind. He’s ready — even if he’s not quite sure what for.

Vote Jonah. He’s doing his best. And occasionally licking the sidewalk.

Meet North Monroe Animal Hospital's very own candidates for the 1st ever Pet Mayor of West Monroe! Next up is Grant Grant!

Meet Grant Grant — a pint-sized powerhouse with the fluff of a cloud and the weight of a bowling ball. Known affectionately as “Sack of Taters,” this one-year-old long-haired Chihuahua may be small, but he’s built like a brick. Pick him up and you’ll quickly understand the nickname. He’s somehow denser than a cinder block in a fur coat.

He’s got brains, charm, and a very firm belief in doing things his way. He doesn’t take commands — he takes suggestions… and ignores them. He won’t listen to you. At all. Ever. He hears you — he just doesn’t care.

He walks like he’s on a mission. Stompy. Determined. Slightly offended by gravity. He carries a toy in his mouth everywhere he goes — not because he wants to play, but because you can’t have it. Ever. It is his. It has always been his. You may admire it from afar.

He may not follow rules. Or come when called. But he leads with love, chaos, and an unmatched ability to look majestic while ignoring you.

Vote Grant. For the future. For the fluff. For the toys he will never let you have.
