June is National Adopt-a-Cat Month! 🐱

To celebrate, all cat and kitten adoption fees are just $0 all month long at SASA!

Our cats and kittens come:
✨ Up to date on vaccines
✨ Microchipped
✨ Spayed or neutered

Planning to adopt? We recommend bringing your own cat carrier. If you don't have one, cardboard carriers are available for purchase at the front desk for just $5.

How to Adopt:
🐾 Visit us in person
🐾 Spend some time with the cat you'd like to adopt
🐾 Bring a valid photo ID (must be 18 or older)

SASA will be open for adoptions this Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM! 🐾

Please note that walkthroughs of the shelter are not permitted on Sundays, no exceptions. Sundays are fully volunteer-based and more focused on R.E.D. Dogs: https://www.stanislausanimalservices.com/atrisk/adopt-dogs.shtm?color=red&sort=orderByIntakeDate

What to expect upon arrival...

🐕 Please sign in at the front table upon entering the building.

🐕 If you already know which dog or cat you would like to meet, you may write the dog’s name on the sign-in sheet.

🐕 If you are unsure, a booklet of available dogs or cats will be available at the front table for you to browse.

🐕 Then take a seat and we will be with you as soon as we can!

🐈‍⬛ Shelter walkthroughs are available Monday–Saturday only.
🐈‍⬛ Pre-adoptions are NOT available on Sundays (Monday–Saturday only).
🐈‍⬛ Only adoptions and fostering services will be offered on Sundays. No additional services will be available.

Can't make it to the shelter? Our team is also hanging out at Tractor Supply in Ceres from 10 AM - 2 PM with some adorable faces who have been patiently waiting for their chance at a home.

Come say hi, fall in love, and maybe leave with your new best friend. ❤️

Play groups are one of our favorite parts of the day! 🐾

They help our staff and volunteers get a better picture of who these dogs really are outside of the kennel. Some pups may come across shy, stressed, or shut down in their kennel, but in play group we get to watch them open up, making friends, being goofy, playful, and showing off the personalities we might not otherwise get to see.

This helps us make better matches for adopters and gives us a chance to highlight just how many amazing dogs we have waiting for homes at SASA! 🫶

Most of the dogs pictured are available for adoption right now! At this time, over 40 dogs are considered at risk and urgently need adopters, fosters, or rescue. Yesterday, 18 dogs entered the shelter and we ended the day with 259 dogs in our care.

Three little kittens are looking for a foster home! 🐾

This spicy little trio needs a calm, patient place to land while they work on their social skills and receive medical treatment for their URI before they’re ready for the adoption floor.

Additionally, we also have a momma cat and her two kittens looking for a safe foster home while they receive care and are healthy enough for the adoption floor.

All cat and kitten fostering is short term, and timelines can be discussed with our Foster Team.

SASA provides all necessary supplies, medical care and a kitten playpen can even be sent to your home, just let the foster team know!

SASA accepts abandoned neonatal kittens, as well as injured or sick cats within Stanislaus County. For kittens needing more care (under 5 weeks of age), please bring them in before 2 PM so our team has enough time to find an appropriate foster home.
