πŸ’©πŸΎ **F***L FRIDAY! Let's Talk About P**P!** 🐢🐱

We know, we know... talking about p**p isn't exactly everyone's favorite topic! πŸ˜‚ But here at **Valley Pet Care**, your pet's p**p can tell us A LOT about their health!

Did you know your dog or cat can have intestinal parasites even if their p**p looks completely normal?! 😳

That's right! Some parasites are microscopic, and many infected pets show absolutely NO symptoms!

πŸ’œ **SO WHY ARE F***L EXAMS IMPORTANT?**

A f***l exam allows our veterinary team to check a small stool sample for evidence of intestinal parasites that could be affecting your furry friend's health.

πŸ”¬ **WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**

πŸ› **Roundworms** – Common in puppies and kittens and can cause digestive issues, poor growth, and a potbellied appearance.

πŸ› **Hookworms** – These tiny parasites feed on blood and can cause anemia, especially in young pets.

πŸ› **Whipworms** – Can cause chronic diarrhea, weight loss, and intestinal irritation in dogs.

🦠 **Giardia** – A microscopic parasite that can cause diarrhea and digestive upset.

🦠 **Coccidia** – Especially concerning in puppies and kittens, as infections can cause significant diarrhea and dehydration.

πŸ’© **BUT MY PET'S P**P LOOKS NORMAL!**

That's great, but unfortunately, normal-looking stool doesn't always mean your pet is parasite-free!

Some pets can carry intestinal parasites without showing obvious signs, which is why routine f***l testing is so important.

🐾 **HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOUR PET HAVE A F***L EXAM?**

πŸ’œ **Puppies & Kittens:** Multiple f***l exams during their first year of life are recommended because young pets are especially vulnerable to intestinal parasites.

πŸ’œ **Adult Dogs & Cats:** Routine f***l testing is generally recommended at least twice a year, depending on your pet's lifestyle and risk factors.

πŸ’œ **Pets With Digestive Issues:** If your pet is experiencing diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, or changes in appetite, a f***l exam may help identify the cause.

⚠️ **DID YOU KNOW?**

Some intestinal parasites can also infect PEOPLE! 😱

Regular parasite screening, appropriate prevention, and promptly cleaning up pet waste help protect both your furry family members AND the humans who love them!

πŸ’œ **A LITTLE P**P CAN TELL US A LOT!**

At **Valley Pet Care**, we believe preventive care is one of the best ways to keep your pets happy and healthy!

πŸ“ž **Call us today to ask about scheduling a f***l exam for your dog or cat!**

🐾 **NOW FOR A FUN QUESTION!** πŸ˜‚

Is your dog the type who has to walk in 47 circles before finding the PERFECT p**p spot, or do they just squat and get down to business?!

πŸ‘‡ Tell us in the comments! We know every pet has their own hilarious bathroom routine!

πŸΎπŸ’œ **WAIT... IS MY DOG CHOKING?!** 😳🐢

Have you ever heard your dog suddenly make a loud snorting, honking, or gasping sound that makes you stop everything and wonder WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Don't panic! Your pup might be experiencing something called **REVERSE SNEEZING!** 🀧🐾

At **Valley Pet Care**, we know how scary it can be when your furry friend starts making unusual noises, so let's talk about what reverse sneezing actually is!

🐢 **WHAT IS REVERSE SNEEZING?**

Unlike a regular sneeze, where air is forcefully pushed OUT through the nose, a reverse sneeze happens when your dog rapidly pulls air IN through their nose.

During an episode, you may notice your dog:

🐾 Standing completely still with their neck stretched out

🐾 Making loud snorting, honking, or gasping sounds

🐾 Taking several quick, forceful breaths inward

🐾 Looking startled or uncomfortable for a few seconds

πŸ’œ **WHAT CAUSES IT?**

Reverse sneezing can be triggered by several things, including:

🌸 Pollen, dust, or environmental irritants

🐾 Excitement or sudden activity

🐢 Pulling against a collar

🌿 Allergies or nasal irritation

πŸ’œ **IS IT DANGEROUS?**

The good news is that occasional reverse sneezing is usually harmless! Most episodes last just a few seconds to a minute, and dogs typically return to acting completely normal afterward.

🐾 **WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?**

If your dog is having a typical reverse sneezing episode:

πŸ’œ Stay calm and help your pup relax.

πŸ’œ Gently stroke their neck or throat to help soothe them.

πŸ’œ Move them away from possible irritants.

πŸ’œ Allow the episode to pass while monitoring their breathing.

🚨 **WHEN SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED?**

Although reverse sneezing is usually harmless, not every unusual breathing sound is a reverse sneeze!

If episodes become frequent, last longer than usual, or are accompanied by coughing, nasal discharge, or changes in behavior, it's time for a veterinary evaluation.

**If your pet is struggling to breathe, collapses, or develops blue or pale gums, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.**

🐢 **FUN FACT!** Reverse sneezing is especially common in dogs, including smaller breeds and flat-faced pups, but cats can occasionally experience it too!

πŸ“Ή **A HELPFUL TIP FROM OUR TEAM:** If your pet has an episode, try recording a short video (as long as they're breathing comfortably). Showing your veterinarian the episode can be extremely helpful in determining what's happening!

πŸ’œ **NOW WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!**

Has your dog ever had a reverse sneezing episode that scared you half to death?! πŸ˜…

πŸ‘‡ Tell us in the comments! We'd love to hear your experiences!

🐾 **Happy, healthy pets are what we're all about at Valley Pet Care!** πŸ’œ

πŸΎπŸ’œ **WACKY WEDNESDAY IS BACK!** 🐢🐱

It's time for another fun animal fact from your friends at **Valley Pet Care!**

πŸ‘ƒ **Did you know your dog's nose is basically a SUPERPOWER?!** 🀯

That's right! While humans have around 5–6 million scent receptors, some dogs have up to **300 MILLION!** 😱

Depending on the scent and the dog, their sense of smell can be thousands of times more sensitive than ours!

🐢 **What does that mean?**

Your pup can pick up on smells you don't even know exist! From tracking other animals to sniffing out hidden treats, their noses are constantly working overtime!

🐱 **And don't count our feline friends out!** Cats also have an incredible sense of smell that helps them explore their surroundings, recognize familiar scents, and find food!

πŸ˜‚ **NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE!**

Ever notice how your pet can be sound asleep in another room, but the SECOND you open a bag of treats, they magically appear at your feet?!

Apparently, nothing gets past those little noses... especially when snacks are involved! 🦴🀣

πŸ’œ **WE WANT TO KNOW!**

What's the funniest thing your pet has ever sniffed out or managed to find?

πŸ‘‡ Tell us in the comments! Bonus points if you have a funny picture of your furry little detective! πŸ“ΈπŸΎ

πŸ±πŸ’œ **Small Surgeries. BIG Impact. Saving Community Cats One Paw at a Time!** 🐾

Did you know that one unspayed female cat and her offspring can contribute to countless unwanted litters over time?

That's why **Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)** programs are SO important to our community!

At **Valley Pet Care**, we're proud to be one of the few veterinary clinics in Stanislaus County offering **WEEKLY TNR spay and neuter appointments** for community cats! πŸ’œ

🐾 **What is TNR?**

TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. Community cats are humanely trapped, brought to a veterinary clinic to be spayed or neutered, and then returned to their familiar outdoor environment after recovery.

πŸ’œ **Why does TNR matter?**

🐱 **Prevents unwanted litters!** One spay or neuter surgery can prevent generations of kittens from being born into an already overwhelming homeless cat population.

🐱 **Reduces shelter overcrowding!** Fewer unwanted kittens means less strain on our local shelters and rescue organizations.

🐱 **Improves community cat welfare!** Sterilization eliminates the risk of certain reproductive diseases and can reduce fighting, roaming, and mating-related behaviors.

🐱 **Helps our neighborhoods!** Over time, consistent TNR efforts can help stabilize and gradually reduce community cat populations.

🐱 **Gives community cats a healthier future!** TNR allows unsocialized outdoor cats to remain in their familiar territory without continuing the cycle of reproduction.

πŸ’œ **We're Proud to Be Part of the Solution!**

While TNR isn't always the easiest part of veterinary medicine, it's some of the most meaningful work we do!

Behind every covered trap is a cat getting a second chance at a healthier life, a dedicated community member who cared enough to help, and a veterinary team working hard to make a difference.

πŸ“Έ **Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at our Valley Pet Care team preparing community cats for their spay and neuter procedures!**

To the rescuers, trappers, fosters, and community members who dedicate their time and energy to helping these cats β€” **THANK YOU!** Your compassion and hard work do not go unnoticed. πŸ’œ

πŸΎπŸ’œ **Spay. Neuter. Save Lives.** 🐢🐱

Did you know that spaying or neutering your pet does more than just prevent unwanted litters? It's one of the most important decisions you can make for your pet's long-term health AND for the animals in our community!

At **Valley Pet Care**, we're passionate about helping pets live healthier lives while doing our part to reduce pet overpopulation. πŸ’œ

🐢🐱 **Why is spaying & neutering so important?**

πŸ’œ **A Healthier, Happier Pet!**
Spaying and neutering can help reduce the risk of certain cancers and serious reproductive health conditions, including life-threatening uterine infections (pyometra) in female pets.

🐾 **Fewer Unwanted Litters!**
Every year, shelters and rescues take in countless puppies and kittens in need of homes. Spaying and neutering helps prevent accidental pregnancies and reduces the number of animals entering already overcrowded shelters.

πŸ’œ **Better Behavior!**
Spaying and neutering may help reduce hormone-driven behaviors such as roaming, urine marking, and certain types of aggression. Every pet is different, but these changes can make life a little easier for pets and their families!

🐾 **Helping Our Community!**
Preventing unwanted litters means fewer stray and homeless animals, less strain on local shelters and rescues, and more opportunities for animals already waiting to find their forever homes.

πŸ’œ **One Small Decision Can Make a BIG Difference!**

Whether you have a playful puppy, a curious kitten, or an adult pet who hasn't been altered yet, it's never too late to ask about your options!

At **Valley Pet Care**, we offer affordable spay and neuter services for both dogs and cats because we believe responsible pet ownership should be accessible to our community.

πŸ“ž **Call Valley Pet Care today to schedule your pet's spay or neuter appointment!** Our team is happy to answer your questions and help determine the appropriate timing for your furry family member.

πŸΎπŸ’œ **WACKY WEDNESDAY IS HERE!** 🐢🐱

It's time for another fun animal fact from your friends at Valley Pet Care!

πŸ‘ƒ **Did you know your dog's nose is just as unique as your fingerprint?!**

That's right! Just like humans have their own unique fingerprints, every dog has a one-of-a-kind pattern of tiny ridges and bumps on their nose!

🐢 No two dogs have exactly the same nose print, making that adorable little snoot extra special!

🐱 **But wait... there's more!** Cats also have their own unique nose prints! So whether you're getting a wet nose boop from your pup or a tiny nose nudge from your kitty, you're getting a one-of-a-kind greeting! πŸ’•

πŸ’œ **Here's a fun question for our pet parents:**

Is your pet the type to give you a big, slobbery nose boop, or do they prefer to keep their adorable little nose to themselves? πŸ˜‚

🐾 Is your dog itching, scratching, or licking nonstop?

Allergies can make our furry friends miserable, and sometimes a little extra help is needed!

πŸ’œ Valley Pet Care offers Cytopoint injections!

Cytopoint is a non-steroid treatment that helps relieve allergic itching in dogs. Just one injection can provide relief for 4–8 weeks, helping your pup spend less time scratching and more time enjoying life!

If you’ve noticed your dog constantly chewing their paws, scratching their ears, or dealing with red, irritated skin, Cytopoint may be worth considering.

Not all itching is caused by allergies, so our veterinary team can help determine whether Cytopoint is right for your dog.

🐢 Less itching, more tail wagging!
