This post showed up in our memories today. What is incredible is that Thelma the chihuahua and Norman the cat are both STILL thriving with their foster turned adopters.
Thelma came to use as a senior dog with no teeth, diabetes and Cushings disease. She went blind from diabetes while we struggled to get things under control. At the time our vet just knew she was old, anywhere from 12-20, so who knows how old she is these days! But loves to walk around the back yard and sniff out treats in snuffle mat!
Norman became our first cat in our FIV program. After getting some medical issues under control, he has been the silliest boy. And the other cats in the home remain negative for this virus, showing proof that FIV cats can be successfully adopted into multi cat households.
Never in our wildest dreams did we think Thelma and Norman would still be here 5 years later. It’s all thanks to your support. The ability to provide high quality vet care, the supplies needed for a foster program, etc. leads to amazing outcomes for the animals in our community.
Today we continue this work by partnering with our local shelters to make sure animals like this get that chance.
