A message to remember to my fellow rescue friends!

I see you. πŸ‘οΈπŸ‘οΈ

I see you trying to keep up with the endless stream of calls and messages about pregnant mamas, abandoned kittens, sick cats, injured cats, and one more emergency that just can't wait until tomorrow.

I see you carrying the weight of all the animals you wish you could help.

And I want to tell you something πŸ“’ that took me a while to learn myself.

πŸ‘‰ No matter how many cats you save, there will always be more.

There will always be another call, another litter, another crisis, another plea for help. 😿

I don't say that to discourage you. I say it because I know how easy it is to feel like you're failing when the need never seems to end. The need is simply greater than any one person can solve.

So please hear this:

It is okay to take a breather. It is okay to say no when your plate is full. It is okay to protect your peace, your health, your family, and your own well-being.

Because saving every cat was never your responsibility.

Every cat or kitten you help is 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘢𝘨𝘩.

And the number of animals you've helped will never be as important as the quality of care you provide to the ones you can. 𝙋𝙧𝙀π™₯π™šπ™§ π™˜π™–π™§π™š π™žπ™¨ π™«π™žπ™©π™–π™‘!

‼️ 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯π˜₯ 𝘰𝘢𝘳 𝘀𝘒𝘱𝘒𝘀π˜ͺ𝘡𝘺, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘴 (us and the animals we're trying so hard to help)‼️

🐾 So if you're tired, rest.
🐾 If you're overwhelmed, step back for a moment.
🐾 If you need to say no, say no.

The work will still be there tomorrow and so will the cats.

Thank you for everything you do, even when it feels like it's never enough.

Because it is. It always has been.

Male cats who are neutered are less likely to fight and defend their territories.

Diseases are less likely to be spread, and fewer injuries will happen because they aren’t fighting, which leads to much happier and healthier male cats.

Make sure all male cats are so they aren't beat up, injured, & suffering.

Every tabby cat is a masterpiece.

The mackerel tabby, with its thin, elegant stripes, captivates as the most common pattern. Its sleek design whispers of dignity and charm.

But then there's the classic tabby.

It flaunts bold, swirling patterns that adorn its coat like the strokes of a painter’s brush. Each swirl tells a story, each line a marvel.

The spotted tabby strikes a different note. Its coat, peppered with spots, echoes the wild, untamed aesthetics of its bigger cousins in the jungle. It’s both captivating and intriguingly fierce.

Enter the ticked tabbyβ€”where subtlety reigns supreme. Its fur seems to blend seamlessly, with barely a stripe in sight. A hint of mystery wraps around this pattern, leaving onlookers intriguingly curious.

And we mustn’t overlook the patched tabby. This feline wears a coat of mixed colors, where each patch lays claim to its uniqueness. It’s as if the cat itself decided to wear an ever-changing tapestry.

Each pattern, a unique expression of nature's artistry.

Next time you meet a tabby, look closer. You'll see life’s creativity etched in their fur.

Icons of their kind, tabbies remind us:

Ordinary can indeed be extraordinary.

If you have found and rescued kittens, you may be wondering how to catch the mom cat. πŸ€” It is so important to make that effort!

Please don't just scoop up the kittens and move on. 🚫 Leaving the mother cat behind often means she will face the exact same situation again in just a few short months, producing another litter and continuing the cycle.

If kittens are around, there's a very good chance mom is nearby, even if you haven't seen her. It is actually uncommon for an entire litter of kittens to be abandoned.

So how do you find her❓

Place the kittens in a carrier or trap at the location where they were found. Then set a baited trap in front of the carrier and cover both with a sheet or blanket to create a little "tunnel" leading straight to her babies.

And here's the important partβ€”go away. πŸ˜‚

Mama cat is much less likely to return if a scary human is standing nearby watching. Let the kittens and the trap do the work for you. If possible, go inside and monitor from a window. If you're in a public location, park nearby where you can still keep an eye on the trap from your vehicle.

Good luck and happy trapping! 🐾

Edit for clarification: Going away does not mean leaving the trap unattended. Never leave a trap unattended. It simply means not standing right next to it expecting mom to walk in while you're watching. Monitor from a window, your vehicle, or another location where you can observe the trap without being seen.
