Meet Graham! Graham has been with us for awhile and we just can’t figure out why. He’s the whole package! Come with us over the next couple of weeks as we help you get to know him a little bit better.

Graham is a boy with a heart bigger than his head (and that’s really big!). He is approximately 4 years old and weighs in at 65 pounds. Graham is potty and crate trained and loves to be accompanied by a ball at all times. He enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn't even mind a feline friend (or avian - just wait for a video coming soon). He is also the type of boy who can enjoy independent time in the yard just chilling (as long as his ball is with him). Graham has been a great support system for his foster brother Arthur who he has taught how to "dog."

Graham also likes a nice 30-45 minute walk each day. That being said, if you are looking for a companion to snuggle with at night then Graham is up for the task. He will lay both front legs and his head on your lap as long as you allow it.

Since you are reading this you must be on the hunt for a new best friend, and, hey so am I! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Arthur and I am a little over a year old and approx 55lbs. I found myself at the puppy pound in July and broke out in August! I am so happy to be in a home with my foster brother who is teaching me how to be a perfect dog.

Not to brag but people tell me I have the softest fur and the most stunning eyes. I promise to devote myself to you and ask that you go slow with me. When I am not admiring your every move I enjoy the company of other dogs and love to meet new people; adults and the kiddos. However, I prefer a house without felines, they are just not for me.

I walk well on a leash, enjoy chewing on bones and napping (preferably on a big bunch of blankets, being the king I am). I love treats and that is what motivates me to explore new things like walking stairs and car rides! I am a good balance of playful, loving, silly and timid. I actually enjoy being in my crate and like to spend time in the yard just chilling.

My ideal match would be a home where I am given time to continue on my potty training ( foster mom says I am almost there), and work with me to be my best self!!!!

Foster Facts Friday: General FAQs

What if I have vacation planned?
If you have a long-term foster and have an upcoming vacation, you can use the Canine Cupids Team page to see if anyone is available to help with the dog while you are gone. Often you will be asked if someone could stay in your home, but you do not have to say yes. As a last resort, Canine Cupids will consider a boarding facility.

What if I can't take my dog to a vet appointment?
If your foster has an appointment, but you are unable to take them with your schedule, you can post to the Canine Cupids Team page with your location (can generalize), the vet location, and the date and time of the appointment to see if others can help out.

What do I do when I'm ready for a new foster?
Canine Cupids primarily pulls from Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), and Waukegan Animal Control (see page 1 for details). Animals with potential to bring into the rescue outside of those three organizations will be posted to the team page with a request for an open foster to take them in. Brea Lopez handles all shelter pull requests. You can also let your Foster Coordinator know you are ready.

How is the Facebook Team page supposed to be used?
Canine Cupids uses a private Facebook Group page to connect all of our fosters, volunteers, and leadership. It's how we share some of the foster dog needs we receive and one of the ways you can ask for help with things like getting advice, transporting your foster dog, asking for help with respite or vacation care for your foster dog, etc. It's also a place you can post photos and videos so we can use them to help promote your foster dog for adoption. Even if you just want to vent or share a funny story, you will be among friends who have been through similar experiences with foster dogs.
