August is almost here! 💚 We have TWO great events in August. First is the Fox Point Farmers Market. Come by and meet some of our adorable adoptable animals! The second event is the second annual Rescue-Rama hosted by at ! 💚 This rescue-focused event brings together our community in one day. It's such a heartwarming event! We’ve waited about a week to make this post because it’s been incredibly hard. Last week, we made the difficult decision to behaviorally euthanize Rex. We know people will have questions, so we want to be honest about why.

We spent months trying to help him. We invested hundreds of dollars into professional training, consulted with three different veterinarians about his behavior, and reached out to rescues and sanctuaries with more behavioral experience. We wanted there to be another option.

But Rex wasn’t a safe dog. He growled at children, bit one toddler in the face and another in the neck, was showing signs of resource guarding and barrier aggression, and became increasingly unpredictable. After he attempted to bite someone he has known for months, we knew that we couldn’t, in good conscience, place him into another home.

We know some people only saw the sweet, goofy side of Rex, and we did too. That made this decision even harder. But he struggled with change, and every foster move seemed to increase his stress and make his behavior more unpredictable.

Rex wasn’t a bad dog. We loved him, we worked hard for him, and we exhausted every option before making this decision with our veterinarian.

Behavioral euthanasia is one of the hardest parts of rescue, but sometimes it’s the only safe and humane choice.

Our Ice Cream Litter will be arriving on August 8th and will be available for foster to adopt! 💚

These sweet treats are a suspected to be Australian Shepherd/German Shorthaired Pointer mix, so you can expect pups that are smart, affectionate, and eager to please. Mama Sprinkles is a full GSP (and will be available once she heals from her spay.) They’ll enjoy adventures, walks, and learning new tricks, making them wonderful companions for active families. With a little guidance and consistency, these clever kiddos are sure to be the cream of the crop! 🍨

Buggy is on the hunt for his forever home!

Age: 7ish months
Breed: domestic shorthair
Medical: neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and felv/fiv negative
Location: Milwaukee

Adoption fee: $125

Buggy has a congenital defect on his eye where the third eyelid covers about half of his eye. The eye itself is healthy and this doesn’t bother him at all! He is a chatty, affectionate kitten who does great with other cats and dogs. He has gone to a few adoption events in a harness and is extremely well behaved!

Hi friends! We have a few dogs that need foster homes.

George, a senior deaf dog. Gets along with dogs and cats.

Rocky & Scoop, two gsp/aussie siblings. They can be fostered together or separately.

Buggy, a teenager tabby cat who gets along great with cats and is indifferent about dogs.

Please let us know if you’d be able to help foster some of these animals! We are foster based rescue which means we can only save them if we have a spot for them!

Medical foster or foster to adopt needed!

Meet Seymour, an adult shar pei who was found all alone in the Missouri heat emaciated, bald, and sunburnt. Believe it or not, he will have a tan coat of fur when his skin heals!

Medical needs would include medicated baths and multiple meals throughout the day to ensure he is gaining weight appropriately.

Say hello to Mama Sprinkles and her adorable ice cream crew: Swirl, Waffle, Scoop, Chip, Rocky, Sherbet, and Cherry! 🤍

Mama Sprinkles is a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer, and her puppies are an adorable Aussie/GSP mix. They’ve been growing like weeds and will be ready for foster and/or adoption on August 8th when they turn 8 weeks old!

Buggy is officially on the hunt for his forever home! 💚💚💚💚

This handsome tabby is everything you could want in a cat. He’s incredibly social, loves attention, and starts purring and making biscuits the second you look his way. Buggy is always ready for a conversation and has plenty to say!

Buggy was born with a congenital defect that caused his third eyelid to develop abnormally, covering most of one eye. The eyeball behind it is completely healthy and normal, and this does not bother him.

Buggy loves his foster family, enjoys toys he can bat around and bunny kick, uses his litter box perfectly, and prefers scratching his cat tree over the furniture. He’s still deciding how he feels about dogs, but he’s very interested in making friends with the other cats in the home.

Our veterinarian estimates Buggy is about 8 months old, and we can’t wait to help him find the family he deserves. He is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and dewormed. 🐾
