💨‼️That smoke is adding to an already dangerous situation with our extreme heat. Be safe out there.

Some information to keep in mind.

-Keep and eye on our young folks and elders as they are most at risk.

-Keep smoke out of the home or at least one room. Shut the windows, and stuff something into any big cracks in doorsways/windowsills. This heat makes it hardneighbors without a/c.

-Check air quality like the weather! Plan your day around it. Our friends MKE FreshAir Collective are always doing the work to keep our lungs safe and are a good source to stay updated on current conditions.

-Don't overdo it in the garden or elsewhere outside! The plants, work, and fun will be here tomorrow. We want you to be here too!

We’re excited to relaunch our Green Team this year after a three-year hiatus! We’re honored to work alongside the other members of the Environmental Youth Collaborative in preparing the next generation of environmental leaders!

We're adjusting our programing next week to care for ourselves during the heat. Are there any garden tool experts in our community available to lead our Green Team in learning on how to maintain and the shovels, pruners, rakes, and other tools we use to steward the sacred outdoor spaces in our city?

We're sharing more photos from our Arbor Day events from this past April! 🌳 Along with many community groups, we planted 21 trees at Moody Park in the Amani Neighborhood! We are grateful for everyone who came out and helped us work to sustain some of Milwaukee's sacred green spaces! 🏡🎍

A few weeks ago, our Program Manager, Corrine, took part in a Groundwork Youth Workforce Retreat at Yellowstone National Park! 🌄During the trip, Corrine helped with fence-building service projects with the Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps. Corrine also learned how to collect bison samples for ongoing conservation projects, and got to visit Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, and the Porcelain Basin Trail in Norris Geyser Basin! ☀🪻 We are excited to share some of the great photos she took during the trip!
