The other task we were concerned about regarding the L2 test was Recall past another dog. Last week Stryder was more concerned about engaging with Ze’ev than recalling to Bob. With a slight change in technique Stryder was on his way. Great job Bob and Stryder! Bring on the LEVEL II Test!!!

Yesterday was the final practice session for Stryder’s Level II test next week. One of the tasks we needed to shore up with Bob and Stryder was the Safety Stop. Even though Stryder is a bit of a creeper we were able to get him to consistently stop within the required distance. Great improvement!

Last find of the day I put the odor in the cat tree thinking the cat odor may create a masking event or at least a distraction…..ummmm nope! Very great Bentley!!

The thing Christine is talking about at the beginning of the video is keeping her feet moving and being consistent so she doesn’t cue Bentley to cheat or to false. With scent work this can be common issue for the handler. Just keep moving even if it’s moving in place. Good change of behavior in Bentley followed by a positive indication.

Odor hidden under the carpet. Good head snap and alert. Yeah B!

I thought this one would challenge Bentley a bit because of the A/C unit spinning. You can see Bentley catch the odor with the head flag. Clearly in odor. He then steps towards the find hidden in the PVC pipe, pauses and then hits. Not bad at all!

Good head flag! A bit of a delay on his sit but Bentley figured it out. Good boy!

Odor was placed in the leaves / grass debris in the fire pit. Good change of behavior even though Bentley didn’t finalize so I paid him.

Bentley was on a mission for this find. I had walked all around the garden area hoping to create a challenge for him….Nope. Awesome!

With this one Bentley alerts but I wanted to see if he would commit to it or dismiss it so I waited to pay him. Nice job B!
