RESCUE NEEDED

The reality of pet overpopulation in South Florida is a pressing concern.

Sadly, hundreds of dogs in Redland, Florida are desperately waiting for rescue. These dogs, varying in size, breed, age, and temperament, are in urgent need of a loving home. Once cherished pets, they were callously abandoned in these rural areas.

They have been forced to fend for themselves. As a result, they are heavily infested with intestinal parasites from scavenging for food and are likely to have heartworm, a deadly disease if left untreated.

Without support, these animals confront overwhelming challenges.

We're Stretched to the Limit - Resources are Scarce.

The number of abandoned dogs arriving each week is staggering, each one arriving in a state of fear, malnourishment, and desperation. These animals were callously discarded by their previous owners, who showed no concern for their well-being. Their friendly nature speaks volumes about their past life as beloved pets, discarded without compassion or regard.

It's essential to remember that these dogs did not choose their circumstances, but we can choose to make a difference. Funds are needed to facilitate further evaluation and care, building on the initial medical attention they have received.

This is the starting point of their JOURNEY…

Near Krome Avenue, a road with high traffic volume, these pups were discovered- new arrivals to the world of abandonment that is rampant in Miami-Dade County.

These puppies were found hiding in bushes, without their mother's presence. Can one imagine the immense fear experienced by these innocent puppies? Were they an unintended litter that someone chose not to acknowledge or puppies someone could not profit from? There is no justifiable explanation 😡 they were unwanted and subsequently abandoned, left to die. No animal deserves abandonment, but it requires a heartless and cruel individual to discard innocent puppies, incapable of fending for themselves.

🌸 Happy Mother's Day 🌸 to all the remarkable foster moms, dog moms, cat moms, and every woman who has selflessly cared for an animal in need. Because of your compassion, fearful dogs discover the meaning of safety, and broken animals learn to trust once more.

We appreciate your tireless efforts, including sleepless nights, veterinary visits, cleaning, cuddles, patience, socialization, updates, and the constant reassurance you provide these once abandoned animals during their most vulnerable moments.

Despite the journey being overwhelming, time consuming, and costly, the reward is ultimately worth the effort ❤️

Seeing once abandoned animals receive a second chance at a better life is an invaluable experience. Today, Spencer will embark on a journey through the skies and head North. Days like today are the direct result of a collective effort - the unwavering support and dedication of Pilots To The Rescue to help these forgotten animals are genuinely heartwarming.
South Florida is a challenging environment for unwanted animals, but fortunately, Darbster Doggy is able to offer him a safe haven and facilitate his adoption into a loving home 🏠

These siblings were abandoned by their owner on the side of the road, forced to survive in an unfamiliar environment 💔

Both dogs fell into an 8 ft deep ditch, completely disoriented and lost. Their fearful state indicated prolonged suffering, and their dire need of assistance compelled us to take immediate action. We cannot comprehend how anyone could discard their affectionate, loyal dogs like disposable items, subjecting them to fear, confusion, and potential suffering.

Fortunately, Darbster Doggy recognized their critical need for help and provided assistance promptly. We are thankful for second chances and rescues that offer support to these discarded animals in South Florida 🙏🏻

REPEATEDLY DISAPPOINTED

Nike , a lab mix, was initially received as a puppy and has been in and out of shelter since 2017. He is now an 8-year-old senior awaiting a furever home.

Despite being well-behaved and house-trained, Nike has undergone multiple failed adoptions, resulting in his return to the shelter as a stray. His most recent intake was in February 2025, he is an easy-going senior who just wants to cuddle and relax and wants a comfy bed, he is worthy of a warm and loving home 🏡

The prolonged confinement in a kennel environment is contributing to Nike's growing depression. He deserves a more comfortable living arrangement during his golden years, where he can thrive and feel cherished ❤️

FREE ROAMING DOGS

The reality is that these animals create more than just unwanted lives, lives that animal lovers and dedicated rescue groups tirelessly step in to rescue, house, feed, vet, nurture, and ultimately work to place for rescue or adoption, driven by compassion and a determination to make a difference, because it’s the right thing to do, and because their hearts wouldn’t allow them to do otherwise, but there are other concerns.

If the puppies aren’t rescued, they continue to multiply and the cycle just keeps going endlessly. Females in heat create fights between unaltered males, leaving them battered, bruised, and broken. They’ll stop at nothing to reach that female.

It’s a dire situation, indeed.

Without compassion and education, our community will NEVER get ahead of this problem 💔
