Meet Dakota 🐾 — professional terrier mix, part-time social butterfly, full-time attention seeker. 😂

Dakota came to see Elena at LocalVet for some itchiness, but you’d never know she wasn’t feeling her best. This happy girl was too busy making friends, soaking up attention, and saying hello to everyone she could find.

Some dogs go to the vet nervously… Dakota treated it like a VIP meet-and-greet tour. 💅🐶

With flea and tick season in full swing here in Louisiana, we’re seeing lots of itchy pets lately. We always encourage pets to stay established with their general practice veterinarian for routine prevention care and refills, but if that’s not possible, we’re always happy to help make sure your pet stays protected and comfortable.

We hope this sweet, itchy girl is feeling more comfortable soon — although we’re pretty sure the extra pets from staff helped at least a little. ❤️

Some pups get a little shy when it’s photo time, but not Chloe! She was serving poses, giving us her best angles, and melting hearts every step of the way. We’re pretty sure she knows she’s a star. ✨

Poor Gator wasn’t feeling like himself after vomiting and becoming lethargic💔.

When he came to see us, he made it very clear that his favorite place was hidden under a towel — especially after learning he needed surgery to remove a foreign body he had eaten. 😅

The culprit? Hair ties and string!

We’re happy to report that Gator came through surgery well and is now doing great at home! 🩵 This is also a good reminder to keep small objects like hair ties, string, and ribbon safely out of reach of curious kitties.

Meet Flash ⚡ — came in for weight loss and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism… but clearly also suffering from a severe case of Sink Occupation Syndrome 🐱

Symptoms include:
• Inappropriate sink occupation
• Extreme cuteness
• Refusal to vacate treatment area
• Judging staff silently

Diagnosis: Hyperthyroidism + 100% Orange Cat Behavior

Treatment plan:
• Medical management ✔️
• Admire from a distance
• Accept that the sink now belongs to Flash

Mirringuita stopped by for some sedated x-rays and went home with a splint after fracturing her shoulder blade—ouch! 💔🐾

If there’s one thing puppies are really good at, it’s being completely unaware of their own limits. Jumping, zooming, climbing like tiny superheroes… with zero concern for consequences 😅 Slowing down? Being careful? Not exactly in their vocabulary.

The good news—this type of injury isn’t very common, but it’s a reminder that even our tiniest adventurers can have big mishaps.

For now, Mirringuita is on strict “no zoomies” orders (her least favorite thing ever), getting lots of love, and on the road to healing 💕

Send this brave little girl some well wishes—and maybe remind your own pups to take it easy… even if they won’t listen 🐶💛
