Signs include Coughing, Wheezing, Open mouth breathing or difficulty breathing , lethargy, and a hunched body posture. Symptoms may worsen with Pollen, Smoke, and Dust. It's National Disaster Preparedness Month, folks! 🙅‍♂️ Don't forget about your fur babies! When disaster strikes, you'll want to be ready with a plan that's paw-some. 🐾 Create a list of emergency contacts, including your vet and pet-friendly hotels (because, let's be real, your pet needs a 5-star experience too). 🏨 Make evacuation plans and figure out how you'll transport your furry friends (hint: it's not just about stuffing them in a carrier and hoping for the best). 🚗 Practice drills with your family, and assign jobs so everyone knows what to do (because, let's face it, chaos is not an ideal time to figure it out). Create an emergency kit with essentials like water, food, meds, and a copy of your pet's medical history (vaccinations, allergies, etc.). Don't forget sturdy leashes and carriers that'll keep your pets comfy and safe. And, of course, make sure their collars and carriers have up-to-date ID tags, just in case you get separated. Finally, keep some calming meds like Gabapentin and Anxitane on hand to help your pets (and you) chill out during the chaos. 😅If you have any questions give us a call at 504-837-6137.
