Urgent care and emergency care aren’t the same—but knowing where to go doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. 🐾

Urgent care can help with concerns that need prompt attention but aren’t immediately life-threatening, including vomiting or diarrhea, limping, ear problems, minor wounds, and sudden changes in behavior or comfort.

Severe trauma, breathing difficulty, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, or toxin exposure may require a 24-hour emergency hospital instead.

From one BIG surprise… to one seriously cute puppy 💜

One of the unique things about urgent care is that we don’t always get to see what happens after our patients head home. We’re often just one stop in their journey — but every once in a while, we get lucky enough to see the story continue!

This sweet mama originally came to us with one very large puppy on board. Based on the puppy’s size, her owner elected to move forward with a C-section.

From that original appointment ➡️ to her C-section ➡️ to aftercare ➡️ and now getting to see just how much her not-so-little puppy has grown… we’ve loved being able to follow along every step of the way. 🥹🐶

Meet Sweet Kalani. 💜🐾

Kalani's family woke up to a scary surprise. A ton of raised bumps covering her body, seemingly out of nowhere!

The culprit? Hives. 😖

Hives are often caused by an allergic reaction and can develop very quickly. Common triggers include:
• Insect stings or bites
• Medications or vaccines
• Food allergies
• Plants or other environmental allergens

While hives themselves are often treatable, they can sometimes be a sign of a more serious allergic reaction. If your pet develops hives, they should be evaluated by a veterinarian right away.

Fortunately, Kalani received quick treatment and was feeling much better when she left! 🐾

Foxtails may look harmless, but they can become a painful emergency.

These barbed grass seeds can work their way into your pet's paws, ears, nose, eyes, and even under the skin. Once they start moving, they don't back out on their own.

Watch for signs like:
• Excessive sneezing
• Head shaking
• Limping
• Squinting or eye discharge
• Constant licking of a paw

After every walk, give your pet a quick "foxtail check," especially during the warmer months.
