Do you ever wonder what we see on cytology when we diagnose your pet with an ear infection?

Yeast - looks like a shoe print 👣
Rods - looks like a grain of rice 🍚
Cocci - is circular like a ball 🟣

Ear infections present themselves in a variety of ways: your pet is shaking their head, scratching at their ears, whining when ears are touched, and in severe cases - reluctant to eat and showing signs of lethargy!

If you are seeing any of these signs, give our office a call to schedule a check up!

Secondly, Dr. Cooper!🐾

Dr. Cooper is an Arizona native! She grew up mainly in Gilbert, and always had a love for animals, especially cats and horses. This love for animals, as well as a passion for science and learning, made her decide around the age of 10 that she wanted to be a veterinarian, and that decision never changed!

She attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2010. In 2014, she completed her Doctorate in veterinary medicine at Washington State University.

Dr. Cooper moved back to Arizona immediately following veterinary school and settled in Mesa. In her free time, she enjoys going to Disneyland, seeing musicals and plays, reading, and spending time with her partner Josh and their pets – two dogs: Esmeralda (a greyhound) and Jackson (a mixed-breed), four cats: Juno, Loki, Sebastian, and Winifred, and a tank of fresh water tropical fish.

Up first, our medical director, Dr. Lanier🐾

Dr. Lanier grew up as an Air Force kid, mainly living along the East Coast. Her family settled in South Dakota after retiring from the armed forces. Dr. Lanier loved growing up with animals and knew from a young age she wanted to become a veterinarian.

She attended South Dakota State University, graduating in 2011 with her Bachelor’s and in 2012 with her Master’s degree. She graduated in 2017 from Iowa State University with her Doctorate in veterinary medicine. Her interests include ophthalmology, surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Dr. Lanier moved to Arizona right after graduating to enjoy the warmer weather and lives in Gilbert. She has 3 fur children: a Husky named Renly, a pitbull named Jetta, and a domestic shorthair named Saki. In her free time, she enjoys running, playing softball, reading and exploring Phoenix.

Her philosophy is to constantly learn and advance the medicine that is practiced here at Alta Mesa Animal Hospital. She loves mentoring doctors and creating a healthy family culture within the hospital. She can’t wait to be given the opportunity to help your pet!
