🐾Feline Friday are Bats and Bear🐾

These brothers are a pair of squishy teddy bears surrendered to us after their previous parent lost their job and fell on hard times - a situation many of you can sympathize with, I'm sure.

These sweet void boys don't seem cut out for shelter life, and would love to go to a quiet, loving home where they both can snuggle on the couch.

While they may appear shy when you first meet them, they love pets, and we feel they will easily transition back into the cuddle bugs we know they are in a new home.

They've been together their whole lives and get along with each other great. They might be good with one other chill cat in a new home.

They have experience using an automatic litter box, which they used very well in their last home (with a step to get into it ;)).

We think they would make a pair of wonderful cuddly fuzzy buddies to any new home they find themselves in.

Today Artemisia is 8 weeks old. She is our first and only neonate rescue of the year so far, found in a parking lot only a day or two old, weighing just 95 grams. She has a cleft palate, and may be slightly developmentally impaired, but that has not stopped her at all!

Now, at 2 months old, she is right around 1 lb 4 oz! She is growing well, and very active, but it seems like she might grow up to be on the smaller side.

It also seemed to take her a little more time than most kittens to master control of her back legs while maintaining balance. She is very active, fiesty, and, while she cant quiet run yet, she scampers where ever she needs to go.

Surprisingly, she has mastered the stairs in her foster home and the litterbox most of the time. However, drinking from a water bowl or fountain still baffles her, so she gets plenty of water mixed in her wetfood.

Generally 2 month old kittens are around 2 pounds and can be considered for spay or neuter, so our big goals for her right now are to get her wieght up, make sure she is getting good food, plenty of play time, and lots of love in her foster home.

🐾Feline Friday are Holly and Snowflake🐾

They are two fluffy older sisters who have recently had a hard time being passed around from home to home. They came to us in a single tiny carrier, covered in fleas, and appeared to have been shaved. As soon as they came under our care we got them updated on blood work, dental care, and flea treatments.

Their lovely coats are now growing back in nicely, and their personalities are starting to show as they adjust to shelter life. And in spite of everything they've been through, they are such sweet girls!

Holly is the brave explorer of the two, but does NOT enjoy car rides in the carrier. She would much rather nap the day away in a soft snuggly cat bed or atop a lofty cat tree.

Snowflake is very active and talkative. She loves to share her opinion, which is usually pet me! pet me! pet me!

These girls are looking for some newfound stability, and a nice quiet home with a comfy cat tree and soft bed in a sunny window. Does this describe you? Come visit us Wed.-Fri. and Sunday Noon to 3pm and Saturday, Noon to 4pm. Near the northwest corner of US 1 and Pineda.

🐾Feline Friday are Irina and Roderika🐾

Irina and Roderika are a pair of super loving and cuddly sisters.

Even though they are only 6 months old, they have already been passed between multiple homes by people who were not prepared for how much energy kittens have.

When they aren't laying directly on top of each other, they are getting into proper kitten mischief.

They would do best as the only cats of the home as they are kinda insular, and most other cats arent cool enough to sit with them. 😜

If you are looking for a fun loving bonded pair of house tigers, these are your girls!

THIRTEEN CATS

We apologize for the deviation from your regularly scheduled programming, but we have been SO BUSY. We took in a total of THIRTEEN CATS last week. For a small no-kill shelter, that's a lot. Many are complex cases that need significant extra care and time finding homes, and our lifesaving work is only possible through your generosity. Our new friends are:
- 4 kittens in need of intense socialization
- A neglected pair, who are now receiving loving care
- Bear and Bats, a very sweet 2 y/o bonded pair of house panther gentlemen
- Roderika and Irina, a 7 month old bonded pair of girls
- 3 feral cats
- and a partridge in a majesty palm tree

We'll be bringing you updates later, but for now, thanks to you everyone has a soft bed, full bellies, and clean litter boxes. THANK YOU!!!

This week we're running low on wet cat food, particularly kitty favorite "gravy" flavors. If you aren't in a position to donate, we'd love it if you can spread the word about our work - we still need volunteers and fosters, and of course loving homes.

🐾Feline Friday is Artemsia🐾

Artemsia is our first neonatal bottle baby of the year. She was found in a dirt road, and had been left behind by her mother, whom she was seen with the night before. You'll note she has a cleft lip and nose, and we think this might have been the reason why.

She adapted exceptionally well to the bottle, and is growing fast while becoming more aware and active. She is going to be a feisty happy girl soon!

She has her first vet appointment to examine her celft lip, and to assess for any potential issues - but we've seen no complications thus far. Except maybe the occasional bo**er or two. If her development continues to be normal she should be available for adoption mid to late June.

Neonatal kittens are always a big challenge, especially for us, with only two of our regular fosters currently experienced in caring for them. If you'd like to get involved with helping us foster this kitten season, please reach out at southbrevardhumane.org/volunteers!
