6/16/26 Some call it over-reacting, call it whatever you want, but all of us at Missing Dogs Massachusetts want you to do everything you can to keep your dogs safe. Your dog may be ok today, but maybe there will come a time when they won't be. We can't post these warnings enough.
Cold hard facts: This time of year more dogs enter the shelter systems due to being spooked by fireworks, parades, etc. Many go home. Some end up miles and miles away from their homes in shelters. And even worse, some are still out there with families praying for a miracle.
It's facts and statistics that we deal with every single day at Missing Dogs Massachusetts and at many other organizations like ours.
Take steps to keep them safe today!
1. Look over your dog's leash and collar hardware- are clasps, hooks wearing out?
2. What about your pup's ID tags- can you read them? Is your town license that's on their collar up to date?
3. Is your dog microchipped? Is the chip's registration up to date? And did you know, a microchip is only as good as its current up to date registration and a microchip is NOT a GPS device!
4. Walk your dogs early, accompany them into your yard so they can't jump a fence or escape a gate in fear
5. If you have go to out, leave them home and provide them with a quiet, safe space in the home with their favorite treat.

12/31/25 Don't wait to find out that the new addition to your family is scared. Just assume they are and take safety measures!

New Year's Eve is here, and with that comes parties and fireworks. It's been a super busy year for lost dogs. Give your dog a safe, quiet space at home tonight! Take a moment to check your fences, gates and doors. Make sure your dog has tags on and walk them on leashes. We are already hearing fireworks in many parts of the state and it will get worse later tonight!

Happy, healthy, safe New Year to all!!

7/2/25 The next few days many towns will have fireworks and then also we have people who decide to host their own fireworks. The best solution to keep your dog safe is to leave them home in the comfort of their own home! Please don't let your dog or the dog you may be watching become a statistic!

PUPDATE on MILTON!
Milton's family says:
"I wanted to share an update on Milton. We decided to keep his name because we feel it suits him perfectly!

He’s making steady progress with potty training and is getting better every day. He loves playing with his collection of stuffies, but he’s just as happy snuggling up for cuddles. He’s also very curious about his kitty brother, Henry. We haven’t fully introduced them yet, but I have a feeling they’re going to become great friends.

We couldn’t be happier to have Milton in our lives. He has brought so much joy, love, and laughter to our family already.

Thank you for everything you do and for helping bring this wonderful little guy into our lives!"
sounds pretty perfect, Milton!
