While Weston may be new to you, he isn't a new arrival to us. And while we’re always happy to see a familiar face, we are absolutely heartbroken that it’s under these circumstances. Weston was originally adopted from us over a year ago but was recently surrendered to APS of Durham through no fault of his own. Because he was originally adopted from our organization, we were contacted and were able to bring him back into our care.
Unfortunately, this means Weston has experienced an incredibly difficult transition. In the span of just 24 hours, he went from the comfort of a home where he had spent over a year to two different shelters, filled with unfamiliar sights, sounds, and smells. It's a lot for any animal to process and understandably, Weston has been scared and confused. Even through all of his fear and confusion, it's easy to see just how sweet Weston is. He's still understandably nervous and unsure of his surroundings, but when someone takes the time to show him a little love and affection, you can see him slowly start to let his guard down. Those little moments give us glimpses of the loving, affectionate boy we know he is. Each day, he's becoming a little more comfortable, and we can only imagine how much he'll blossom once he's back in a home where he feels safe and secure.

Weston deserves the chance to feel at home again. He deserves patience, comfort, and someone willing to look past the uncertainty of his current circumstances and see the loving boy underneath it all. Please be the person who gives him that chance 💖
