So how did this interesting youth start Moon's Famous Cake π & how did introduction of your cake to your community start that got you into making birthday cakes to share with our communityπ€
Great questionπ please read and view my photographic resume and read the captionsπ
So back story; in January I put together a Sweet 16 for my friend & school mate! I made decorations and gift bags myself and I made my friends cake and there community cake myself. Oh and the community cake was my first time trying to bake for large quantities. π So come February Chicken Lady has a birthday (& my mom) so Chicken Lady brought in cake to community lunch to celebrate February birthdays with the community π well she was told she could do it in March but then had to work so she asked my mom to fill in. Well she asked if we knew anyone that was a cake maker. Well mom sent her my photo resume which was small back in February (it is growing because) this post starts with what my mom sent.
If you know π she supports Family Children & Community Association with as much volunteer stuff when she can, she encourages us Developing Greatness youth and she loved the idea to help me grow my interests, gain experience, and help me to learn β¨οΈ I was asked to make a cake given a budget and asked to make party punch and was given specific instructions for it and i was given creative freedom to decorate to set the mood for a birthday with a budget for March. The day before on 3/14 I competed in π₯§ Pie contest read the captionon the picture of my pie to hear a glimpse of that event, well my mom sent that to π to hint at my creativity π my Circe turned 1 in March anyways please view my pictures and read the captions π you'll see π This was something I essentially had to interview for, I had to prove competence to read and understand directions, moreless I had to complete tasks and pass exams just like a real job π I had to prove I was mature enough to handle this opportunity π Come April π Trisha & my mom agreed to be my community tribe of strong people who took oath to help me give a party to our community on the 3rd sunday every month, April I also stepped out and requested extra kitchen day to be able practice for May (or any other reason to test new flavors) & no joke I am learning so much and I really enjoy having this to look forward to every month π P.s. June is extra special it is my Birthday month and I'm excited to introduce you to my dad's & my family's old small town tradition of a BBQ block party theme (more info commimg)β¨οΈ
π Honestly I'm so thankful to have creative freedom and I love hearing the community complementing my skills as they develop π I'm thankful to be part of this Developing Greatness experience π And behind the scenes I have been finding youth volunteers that I get to inspire and they learn when I bake, I also have a volunteer that tries to attend every FREE COMMUNITY BIRTHDAY LUNCH to assist with making the Party punch, learn with me decorating skills, and help serve our community π Please join me each month on the third Sunday for lunch, cake, great fellowship, and a Bithday π₯³ vibe π May 17th we had 40 community members π I might have to start making 2 cakes if we keep bringing in our community sizes like this π
