💛 After nearly 3 months in our shelter, NILA FINALLY WENT HOME! 💛
👉 With us since May 31, 2025, this sweet senior girl waited patiently, day after day, for someone to see her heart — and now, she’s finally found her forever.

If you’ve followed Nila’s journey, you know she stole our hearts the moment she arrived. At 12 years young her soft eyes, playful spirit, and gentle soul made her unforgettable. But as the weeks passed and others were adopted, Nila stayed… still hopeful. Still wagging. 💔

But today, everything changed.
Today, she walked out the front door not as a shelter dog — but as someone’s dog. 🏡🐾

To her new family:
Thank you for opening your hearts to a senior dog. You saw past the gray muzzle and chose love, loyalty, and pure magic. We know Nila is going to fill your home with joy, snuggles, and silly zoomies.

To everyone who shared her post, sent her love, and believed in her:

A microchip is only helpful if your info is up to date!

💡 Here’s how you can celebrate this important (and easy) pet safety day:
✅ Check if your pet is microchipped – not sure? Stop by and we’ll scan for free!
📞 Update your contact info with your chip’s registry (phone, address, email)
🔍 Double-check that the chip is properly registered to YOU — not just the vet or breeder.

🐕🐈 Microchips help reunite lost pets with their families — but only if we can reach you!

From fetch champ to cuddle king, Rambo brought all the energy, affection, and goofy charm — and now he finally has a forever family that’s ready to grow with him.

Our Story

About us The McPherson Animal Shelter was built in 2006 and opened it’s doors to the public on January 1, 2007. The building is able to house 16 dogs at a time. We are funded by the City of McPherson. We only accept dogs found running at large in the city limits; we also take surrendered dogs that live in the city limits of McPherson. We house dogs for six days to give the owner a chance to claim his/her pet. If a dog is not claimed after six days, they will be put up for adoption.
