Sonny, a sleepy Golden Retriever puppy, came to UrgentVet McKinney after getting into ma*****na, which hits dogs MUCH harder than it hits people.

Our team started IV fluids to keep everything balanced, then gave him a quiet spot and a blankie to nap it off. 💤 Sonny is resting comfortably and on the way back to normal puppy chaos.

Even a small amount can leave a dog wobbly, extra sleepy, dribbling urine, or jumpy at every sound, and edibles can add other dangers like chocolate. If you think your pet may have gotten into any, call a vet right away instead of waiting for symptoms, and tell us exactly what they ate. We won't judge, and honest details help us treat faster. These things tend to happen at night on a Saturday, and we're here for that.

Goose, a blue-eyed Siamese kitten with serious main-character energy, came to UrgentVet McKinney with a case of diarrhea, and brought along his sister for emotional support. 🥺

Our team checked Goose over, ran tests to look for the cause, and started treatment to settle things down. Both kittens wanted a photo shoot after their exam and, of course, our team was more than happy to oblige!

Kittens are tiny and can get dehydrated fast, so diarrhea, decreased energy, or a lost appetite, deserves a vet visit. And if it starts after your regular vet has closed, we're here evenings and weekends too.

Snowball, a fluffy Bichon who clearly can't resist a sweet treat, came to UrgentVet McKinney after getting into some chocolate. 🍫

Our team gave Snowball activated charcoal, which works like a sponge in the tummy, soaking up the chocolate's harmful ingredients so less of it makes its way into the body. The charcoal left him with a dapper black mustache, so he's officially the only snowball with a handlebar. He's bouncing back nicely 🫶

Chocolate contains ingredients dogs can't process well, and dark chocolate is the worst offender. If you catch your pet sneaking a late night snack, it's best to come in sooner rather than later, before it gets beyond their tummy - we're here nights and weekends!

Gunner, a German Shepherd puppy with ears that could pick up a signal from three counties over, came to UrgentVet McKinney after a nonstop itching and scratching spree. 🐾

Our team gave Gunner a thorough once-over to hunt for the culprit and started treatment to take the edge off the itch. Gunner headed home ready to do that head tilt for anyone holding a treat.

Itching can come from fleas, allergies, mites, or a skin infection, and constant scratching can turn a small problem into raw, irritated skin pretty fast. If your pup is scratching nonstop, losing fur, or has red patches or sores, get them checked. And if it ramps up in the evening or over the weekend, we got you covered!

When Elmer the Beagle got his paws on some raw chocolate chip dough, things quickly took a turn! 🐶🍪

His pet parents brought him to UrgentVet Carytown, where the team acted quickly to help. With medication to induce vomiting, they discovered Elmer had eaten a whopping 2.4 pounds of dough! 🍞

Raw bread dough can be dangerous for pets because the yeast continues to ferment in their stomach, producing alcohol that can lead to toxicity. Add chocolate to the mix, and it's important to seek veterinary care right away.

Thankfully, Elmer got the care he needed!

Winston, the cutest wrinkly little bulldog pup, came to UrgentVet McKinney after his family spotted blood in his diarrhea. Scary to see in a puppy, and they were right to bring him straight in!

Our team checked him over and got him started on fluids and medication to settle his upset tummy, and one of our team members made sure to keep him snuggled up during treatment. By the time Winston headed home, he was already feeling better and back to making that grumpy-little-man face on purpose.

Blood in a pup's stool can come from something minor or something more serious, and puppies can go downhill fast, so it's never one to wait out. Call a vet the same day. We're here evenings and weekends, 24/7.

Maple, a photogenic Golden Retriever who pulls off the blissful eyes-closed look better than anyone, came to UrgentVet McKinney after a rough stretch of vomiting and diarrhea.

Our team got Maple started on fluids and medication to settle that upset tummy. Maple started perking up and on the road to feeling like a goofball again.

Vomiting and diarrhea can dehydrate a dog quickly, so if it happens multiple times, or your pup seems tired or won't drink, get them checked out. And if it starts after your regular vet has closed, we're here evenings and weekends too.
