If you haven’t heard about our rescue mission we have been working on, it’s been one heck of a roller coaster. ❤️💔🙏🏻
For those of you who don’t know my husband Hunter Finn and I rescued 14 abused and neglected puppies. They were extremely sick and had hook worms, round worms, coccidia and crypto. We have kept them at our vet clinic and then transferred ALL 14 to our home to be able to give them full time monitoring.
It has been some of the most stressful 3 weeks we have ever gone through, we haven’t had time to eat much, sleep, and it’s been one new diagnoses after another. We treated all the parasites and got them feeling so much better. Then one of our puppies started to seizure very aggressively and that turned into Hunter testing him for everything under the sun. He was able to get him stable and he’s 1 week free of seizures and the best he’s ever been.
Thursday night one of our puppies got extremely sick and was diagnosed with parvo. We sent him to the ER as our clinic doesn’t have overnight staff and he needed 24/7 fluids, medication. We used all of our previous donations to save him (socks) and also got him a plasma transfusion, feeding tube etc. Socks passed away Monday at 3am. I’m completely devastated and heartbroken. We’ve put so much time, effort, money, tears into all 14 puppies and it’s been one sickness after another. We have spent every single day with them from 6am-2am and in between.
We now have 6, (potentially 7 starting this morning) puppies with Parvo fighting for their lives. We ended up having to send 4 puppies to a different ER because we physically can’t handle this many parvo puppies needing feeding tubes, fluid pumps etc. So currently have 4 puppies at the ER, 3 puppies and at our clinic, 4 at our home.
On top of all the hardships we have kept facing, I ended up catching one of the parasites and had to go to the ER myself over the weekend for fluids and testing. This left Hunter alone to continue to care for all the sick puppies himself and it was a complete nightmare. So as you can imagine our puppy medical bills/ as well as my own, have put the bills through the roof.
We are so burnt out yet refuse to give up. We’ve come way too far already to stop trying to save these babies now. They deserve to be here with us after everything they’ve already endured and survived.
All of these sick puppies will end up costing us well over $40,000 at this point and what’s scary is we have another 3 that could start showing symptoms any day now, and will also need to go to an ER if they decline fast. We are so desperate to save them, as we’ve already lost one.
We have set up a gofund me if anyone is interested and able to donate anything. We will keep them in the ER as long as we can afford to do so, that is their best chance at beating this disgusting and aggressive disease. The ones that have more mild symptoms we will continue treating at our own clinic and home for now.
Thank you for those who have been supporting and showing us so much love through this incredible emotional journey. 🙏🏻❤️
