🚨 PLEASE READ — THIS IS SO HEARTLESS 🚨
Sir Fluffington is back.
Returned in less than 18 hours.
Let’s be very clear about something…
EVERYTHING about him was explained upfront.
✔️ His cancer diagnosis. He may live a year, he may live 10 years.
✔️ That surgery is NOT an option due to anesthesia risk
✔️ That he has lived his life in a cage
✔️ That he is scared of the world
✔️ That he will need time, patience, and understanding
None of this was hidden. None of this was a surprise. He was a FREE adoption.
And yet… he was still brought back in less than a day because he wasn’t “adjusting fast enough.” He was scared. He pottied on the floor. He wasn't cuddly enough.
That is not a dog problem. That is a people problem.
Dogs like Sir Fluffington do not decompress in hours after years of hurt and neglect.
They don’t walk into a new home and instantly trust.
They don’t understand love overnight when they’ve never had it before.
What he did was be exactly what we said he was:
A scared dog trying to figure out his brand new world.
What he needed was time.
What he got was returned💔
⚠️ I may get backlash for saying this… but I don’t care.
He didn’t deserve this. Im usually not this angry over an animal being returned, but it was the lady's tone and uncaring demeanor that has me so angry.
So let’s say this louder for the people in the back:
👉 If you expect instant perfection DO NOT ADOPT
👉 If you are not prepared for an adjustment period DO NOT ADOPT
👉 If you are going to give up in less than a day DO NOT ADOPT
Because this is what happens.
Dogs like him get failed… over and over again.
And he deserves better.
Sir Fluffington is STILL:
🐾 Sweet and gentle
🐾 NOT aggressive in any way
🐾 Worth fighting for
He needs someone who:
❤️ Understands trauma
❤️ Has real patience (not 18 hours worth)
❤️ Will not quit on him
✨ His adoption is FREE
🙏 Donations toward his vet bills are appreciated but not required.

This is one of the hardest updates we have ever had to share.

There was a fire in the building where Reeses is located. We are still learning the extent of the damage, and honestly, our hearts are broken. This place is more than a store to us. It is something we built with love, community, and a whole lot of heart.

Most importantly, our team is safe. We cannot say that enough, and we are incredibly grateful for that.

We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of the fire departments and first responders who showed up and worked tirelessly. Your quick response, care, and compassion mean more than we can put into words.

We know so many of you depend on Reeses for your pets, and please know this, we will not leave our community without support. We understand that Barrington is a drive for many, but once open, you are welcome to come there for food and essentials. We are also committed to offering delivery or meeting locally whenever we can.

If you need food or essentials for your pets, please call our Emergency Food Line at 815-354-3522. This will help us make sure no one is left without what they need.

Right now, we are taking things one step at a time. We ask for patience, grace, and maybe a few extra hugs. Thank you for being the incredible community that you are. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

We will be closed this upcoming Saturday 1/17/26 due to a death in the family.

All grooming and nail appointments are canceled, and will need to be rescheduled.

We will resume regular work hours on Tuesday 1/20/26.
