🐾Introducing Hoyt! Hoyt is a young 11-month-old boy with the best ears ready for adoption! This sweetheart greets everyone with a tail wag and a kind hello. Hoyt is definitely an active dog and would love a home where he can go for walks, hikes, and any other adventures! At only 38 pounds, he’ll make a great travel companion. He is brand new at MCPAWS, so we are still getting to know him. But we do know he is a sweetheart!

🐕Meet Barley! This sweet 1-year-old girl is the definition of a social butterfly. She has successfully lived with kids, dogs, and cats in the past, making her a fantastic candidate for a bustling household. She brings a lot of energy to the room and would love an active home where she can go on daily walks, hikes, runs, etc.

While Barley already knows a few basic commands, she’s still a youngster who hasn’t had a ton of formal schooling. She’s eager to please and ready to learn, but she will need a family dedicated to continuing her training so she can blossom into the absolute best girl she can be! She does jump up, so small kids may not be the best fit.

This dog Buddy is missing above Tripod Meadows - Cougar Mountain Lodge area and was last seen Tuesday morning around Tripod Meadows. He is wearing a blue bow tie with a flower. He has light and dark grey hair and is a Morkie ( Maltese and yorkie). He is also microchipped.

If anyone is camping nearby or in the area, please keep an eye out for him and give us a call if you see him. He can be scared of new people or big dogs so please approach him slowly.

🐾 Nalah had a Dog Day Out last week! Here is what we learned:

I picked up Nalah for a dog day out, and she seemed to know exactly what the plan was! She enjoyed the car ride to the trailhead and then wasted no time showing me that she's an experienced trail pup! Nalah had one thing on her mind, and it was single-track trail! She made sure we maximized our time, hiking briskly on a beautiful spring morning! She was occasionally interested in a sniff here or there, but mostly she stayed focused on our activity and enjoyed a few pets and treats here and there. Nalah has a joyful, happy-go-lucky spirit that blossomed even more out on the trails!

This girl has lived with kids and dogs and enjoys making friends with everyone she meets. We passed an off-leash dog on the trail, and Nalah was content to keep moving and stay focused on her own adventure. She knows a number of commands, including sit and down, takes treats gently, and rides well in the car.

This 6-year-old is NOT planning to slow down anytime soon. She's a sleek, cuddly, active buddy who is cheerful and adaptable and waiting for you to help her get started on her happily ever after!

Pupdate: Alistar has found a home!

Alistar recently arrived at MCPAWS as a transfer from an overcrowded shelter, and it’s safe to say he was having a bit of a rough time. He arrived heavily matted, dealing with an ear infection, and needing his neuter surgery.

But look at him today! Thanks to some much-needed TLC, a good grooming session, and medical care, this handsome 1-year-old boy is looking and feeling a whole lot better. He is officially ready to leave his past behind and find his true forever home.

If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you unconditionally, Alistar is your guy. He is incredibly affectionate and definitely falls into the “clinging dog” category—he loves nothing more than being right by your side. Whether you’re working from home or relaxing on the couch, Alistar will be there to offer comfort, companionship, and endless love.

Alistar is a young, resilient boy who is ready to integrate into a loving family. He is still finishing up treatment for his ear infection, but with continued medication in his new home, it should clear up in no time.

We think Alistar could do wonderfully living with a canine buddy! If you have another dog, we’d love to do a match-up to see if they can be best pals.

Today we fixed 10 animals at the shelter. We were able to spay/neuter a couple of dogs, several kittens, and two TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) community cats. Several kittens (like this adorable nugget) will be available for adoption tomorrow!

We'd like to thank the Idaho Pet-Friendly License Plate Fund for providing us with a $4,300 grant to help us spay/neuter owned pets and community cats! Funds raised by the "Pet Friendly" plate, via the Pet Lover's Fund, are used to support grants for non-profit shelters and rescues in Idaho to provide low-cost spay/neuter procedures. We are happy to be able to provide these services, thanks to these grant funds and the generosity of our supporters. Thank you! 😻

Thelma was transferred to MCPAWS from another shelter, and she wasn't feeling so great upon arrival. When our shelter manager, Ashley, saw her, she knew she was taking her home. It started as a foster while she recovered from kennel cough and a spay, and it quickly became a forever home. We love it when our team finds their best friends at work!

Thelma is now Cannoli, and she is starting to truly understand what the sweet life is all about! Congratulations, Ashley and Cannoli! 😍🐾
