If your dog is upset by strangers, unusual looking costumes, noises or people ringing the doorbell, Halloween might be a bad day for your pup. Consider making a sign to hang on your door, and help keep your pup feeling safe.

Maybe leave a bowl of candy out for visitors or just keep your lights off.

Lots of fun at ‘s ! Brian & Amanda did such an amazing job coordinating a tremendous event! Thank you to everyone that stopped by the table to say hi or try out tricks and with their dog. So fun and busy I barely had time to take photos, but here are a few of them. Looking forward to next year!

My passion for dog training started in 2009 with Lux, a husky-shepherd mix, featured in the banner photo. Using lure-reward training she was able to perform over 40 tricks before she was 2 years old thanks to great books by authors like Dr. Ian Dunbar and Kyra Sundance. In 2013 I began to volunteer at a canine rescue and opened our home to several foster dogs (much to our cats’ disapproval). In 2016, we finally adopted a puppy from the rescue. That summer we enrolled our rescue pup in a puppy kindergarten with a force free trainer to whom I am extremely grateful for her mentorship. By fall of 2017, I chose to resign from event coordination and started my own practice: chqdogs which stands for Customized, Humane, Quality and my beautiful home county of Chautauqua. In spring of 2019 I took and passed the examination earning the title of CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed) and opened a training ‘HQ shortly thereafter. This facility offers private lessons and group classes including Manners, Puppy, and Tricks Class with opportunities for AKC Titles. 2019 has been a busy year including an L2 ACA Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Certification as well as Drink with Your Dog™ Project Instructor Certification. In 2020 I plan to offer SUPs & Pups lessons- paddleboarding with your dog can be a great low impact sport for dogs in their golden years!
