Rest in Peace, our beloved David Bowie, surrounded by all his loving staff, crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night. He came to us as a stray, walking out of the corn field and jumped into Dr. Elizabeth Clyde's car one evening back in 2019. He was anemic and diagnosed with Mycoplasma organisms that infect feline red blood cells. He responded to treatment, but had multiple relapses. Part of the treatment included prednisolone on which he gained weight! But when we put him on diet food, his skin turned pink and he was pulling out his fur in clumps. After extensive allergy testing, we discovered he was literally allergic to his diet food! That didn't stop him, he was always sneaking bites of our food! Clients may remember him chewing holes in bags of food on the shelves, climbing into their bags, pet carriers and purses if they weren't looking. He loved being loved! He would sit on our laps and drool in contentment. Even though we claimed to have rescued him, he wanted to be outside. He would catch bugs and mice and voles. He made friends with other stray cats and we were able to rescue them and find them homes ( Mac- Bowie's boyfriend and Sushi ) He sometimes would even try to jump in our cars and clients cars! His anemia came back and also kidney failure. He was on every food, medicine, supplement for kidney failure in cats, along with IV fluids, potassium, laser therapy and more love and care from all of us at the Clinic. But his disease overtook his body as he became thin and weak. We are heartbroken but knowing he is no longer suffering or sick, gives us peace.
