This week we're helping spread the word about Abbie from Happy Feet Pet Rescue! ❤️

Some dogs are content to simply live in your home. Abbie's goal is to become a full-fledged member of every activity, conversation, nap, and bathroom trip. 😂

If you're looking for a friendly little sidekick who believes the best place in the world is right next to her people, Abbie might be your perfect match. She may only weigh 20 pounds, but we're pretty sure her personality takes up at least 100.

Learn more about Abbie in the post below and contact Happy Feet Pet Rescue if you'd like to meet this adorable little shadow. 🐕💕

🚨 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: ABBIE 🚨

Age: 3 years old
Weight: 20 lbs of pure comedy
Breed: Professional Bed Hog / Certified Good Girl

Meet Abbie — the tiny roommate you didn’t know you needed. At just 20 pounds, she somehow manages to take up 97% of the bed every night. Scientists are still studying how this is possible.

✅ Potty trained
✅ Extremely friendly
✅ Sleeps with her foster parents like she pays the mortgage
✅ Makes everyone laugh daily

Abbie loves people, cuddles, and acting like she’s been employed full-time as your emotional support supervisor for years. She’s the type of dog who greets strangers like long-lost family and believes personal space is just a rumor.

Her hobbies include:
• Stealing your spot the second you stand up
• Following you to the bathroom for “security purposes”
• Looking innocent after doing something suspicious
• Snoring louder than a grown man despite weighing less than a bowling ball

Abbie is ready to find her forever family — preferably one with soft blankets, snacks, and humans willing to accept that she will absolutely sleep in the bed. Non-negotiable.

Apply now to adopt this hilarious little gremlin before her foster family “accidentally” keeps her forever. ❤️🐾

🐾 Maddie’s Meow of the Week 🐾

Each week, our volunteer Maddie conducts extremely serious feline research by hanging out with our shelter cats and reporting her findings to the public.

This Week’s Cat: Grim Gamer

From his official bio:
Gamer is an affectionate (he loves to give kisses!) outgoing boy who is looking for an active home. He'd love to be in the middle of everything and would enjoy a playful cat friend or people who love to play with their cats. He didn't let ending up in a shelter cage bother him at all and he should have no trouble adjusting to his new home! Gamer was adopted and returned for trying to get outside so it appears that he may have been an indoor/outdoor cat before coming to us. His new family should keep in mind that some cats that are used to being allowed outside when they choose cannot adjust to life as an indoor only cat. Potential adopters wishing to make one of them an indoor pet, will need to be patient and to keep in mind that there could be potential behavior issues and that some cats never lose their desire to roam.

Maddie’s take:
Grim Gamer is the kind of cat that never sits still. He’s constantly rubbing on you and trying to give kisses. He's super vocal- between his “hello” meows and “are you still listening” purrs. Gamer wants to be everyone’s friend, even other cats. And he loves to be held! Beware of his kisses though, he will leave his stinky kitty breath all over your face. He’s a petite little guy with a big amount of energy.

We are so inspired by this wonderful group of kids and their commitment to giving back to the community!

Our staff and animals had a great visit with the students from the Leslie Middle School student council yesterday. They held a dance and used part of the proceeds to purchase much needed items from the shelter wish list.

Thank you for thinking of our shelter animals and making such a positive impact. It's always encouraging to see young people leading with compassion, generosity and heart. You are making a real difference! 🧡🖤

Happy Friday! 🌻

We hope your day starts with as much joy as our girl Ghost of Casey O'Riley with her tennis ball!

Casey is a 1 year old mixed breed that weighs about 44 pounds. She LOVES people and would enjoy another laid back dog. This girl will play fetch, run through the agility tunnel and bring happiness to anyone around her.

Don't forget our Hot Dogs and Cool Cats adoption special runs through Saturday, May 30. All dogs are $25 and all cats are $10. Some of our pets even have completely sponsored adoption fees thanks to our friends at Ten Point Farm-including Casey!

👀 Is this the tiniest little alien kitten getting his injured leg soaked in a tiny paper cup? Yes, yes it is.

He is a tough little guy at only 0.5 pounds and we are hoping he will get to keep his leg. He is doing well and pretty determined!

We are grateful for our vet assistant Cesar (pictured) and our entire medical team who provide such outstanding care to our shelter pets! Their knowledge, skill and compassion make all the difference to our sick and injured friends. 🥰

We are so grateful to the Office of Educator Excellence staff at the MI Department of Education! ✨️

We had a surprise visit from Jennifer Robel today when she stopped in to drop off a whole cart full of donations their incredible staff collected. They brought office and cleaning supplies as well as all sorts of goodies for our shelter pets! What a difference you have made for our animals.

Thank you all so much for your generous spirit and big hearts!! 🩷🐾

Thank you Empire Motors of Lansing for letting us visit today and for sponsoring Bumble's adoption fee. And special thanks to Bumble's foster mama Trisha for showing off Mr. Perfect. We appreciate you both so much! 🩷

UPDATE: ADOPTED! 💙

Please allow us to introduce you to Horton McHuggenheim-AND HIS EARS! 😍

This dapper dude was surrendered to the shelter because of landlord issues. He is about 4 months old and currently weighs 16.5 pounds. Horton spent last night in a foster home. Here is what his foster family reported: He is good with other dogs, cats and kids. He loves to snuggle with his people and needs a set routine for housebreaking.

Horton is hanging out at the shelter today if you would like to come and meet him. (Please see attached photo of the goodest boy sleeping in a 📦 under the front desk....cute right?? He is all packed and ready to go!)

The shelter is open from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday. Adoption paperwork needs to be started by 4:00 pm.

Don't forget our Hot Dogs and Cool Cats adoption special this week: Dog adoptions are just $25 and cat adoptions are $10-age appropriate vaccines, microchip and spay/neuter included!
