Cockers of Country Lane

Cockers of Country Lane American Cocker Spaniels These beautiful Cocker Spaniels sell themselves. However we are raising them with health and personality in mind.

Our babes are handled and loved from birth so we look for homes to continue that trend for their whole life. They are co -parented by several dogs, including daddy and a male cat. So are used to different kinds of authority. We start them on turf around 3 weeks of age, so are well on their way to potty training. The puppies are vetted at least 2 times before going to their new homes. The tails and

dew claws are removed by our vet, they are dewormed every 2 weeks. They will go to their new homes with a health cert from our vet, with all records, 1st shots, microchipped, and a basket of love that will take care of all their needs until their new parents get to shopping!

She needed a little hairdoo brushing but isn’t this sweet girl pretty? Bellsie is such a nice little girl. I Can’t wait to see the babies that she blesses us with. Dixie vs Bozie

This seems to be a common denominator around here with the boyz. Literally the lap of luxury. ❤️

Sooooo, as eluded to earlier, we did a thing. Please welcome Booker. Still deciding on his big boy name. Kind of thinking “CLs Bookin the Babes.”
Bozy is not out yet for those concerned. But he will be retired likely in the next year. Booker still needs his health testing as he grows before formally saying that he will be used as our new male.
Booker is a black sable that came from a breeder friend by the thumb. We are very excited for him. He is very smart and confident Our vet was very impressed by how sane he is at such a young age. He loves to play but doesn’t just irritate. Well…. Unless it’s Whitney Houston. They are the same size and she is so patient with him. But when shes had enough she lets him know. And then she goes high. Thank the Lord he hasn’t learned to get on furniture. Bozy has been very tolerant of him. This was a very big concern. There has been a couple situations, however we watch them very closely and we were right there to defuse the situation. Its always great until its not with dogs. We are always trying to be aware We are proud of our boy and praying that it continues and are taking steps to assure it.
I would like to get some really good pics but wanted to get him introduced to our hound dog family.

Let’s get one thing straight:

We NEED ethical dog breeders.

Not backyard breeders.

Not puppy mills.

Ethical. Responsible. Passionate. Breeders.

Because the truth is this:

Good breeders don’t just produce puppies — they protect entire breeds.

They’re the reason we still have healthy working dogs, therapy dogs, sport dogs, and family companions with predictable temperaments and solid genetics.

Good breeders raise puppies like they’re staying forever.

Socialization, early exposure, enrichment, confidence-building…

None of that is “extra.” It’s STANDARD.

Good breeders take dogs back, every time.

For life.

No questions. No judgment.

Because their puppies NEVER end up in shelters, ever.

Good breeders breed for preservation, for improvement, and for LOVE.

And here’s the part people don’t want to admit:

Without ethical breeders, we’d lose the breeds we depend on and adore.

Service dog lines.

Duty-driven working breeds.

Family-safe temperaments.

Sound structure.

Predictability.

Purpose.

History.

Shelters are full because of irresponsible breeding —

NOT ethical breeding.

So next time someone says,

“Just adopt,” or "Adopt, Don't Shop"

remind them:

You can support shelters

AND still value and support ethical breeders.

Both matter.

Both play crucial roles.

Both are needed.

Because the breeders doing it right?

They’re the ones keeping dogs healthy, stable, and loved for generations to come.

Bozy had a really busy, exhausting weekend that he is trying to recover from. He and dad had to work on mom’s brakes and the chicken coop. He is such a good assistant. I am aware he needs to be groomed😜

I’m sharing this post from a momma of one of the puppies from Marvel and Bozy in May. I am sure her litter mates families would want to support and love on this family as well as offer healing prayers for Lexi as they are hurting and very worried about their baby right now I know there would be nothing but love and support from our Country Lane family🥰

Jim and I have been discussing for a while what we think the future with our dogs may look like. Do we want to continue breeding? If so, what direction with a new male would that require. Because of Bo’s handicap he gets tired quicker and extra grumpy when he is really exerting himself. It’s a lot of work being the Big Daddy. 🤣. But you n all seriousness, the well being of our dogs is far more important than when we can get from them. First and foremost, they are our babies. That being said, I’m not saying that Bo won’t sire any more puppies. Im saying no that we need to be looking towards the future.
That being said, we did a thing!! Stay tuned

What do yall think? If Donald Trump was a dog?? Bozy has been really sportin some hairdoos. lol

This is regarding the Bo vs Mercy litter. Unfortunately it did not come to fruition. Through her “pregnancy” I felt something was off. But she continued to grow and have her normal pregnancy signs. Coming up on her due date, she really grew and most do. But I couldn’t feel puppies moving. Let me stop here for a moment and explain some things. Yes, there are pregnancy tests, not fool proof. She has carried 2 litters before, I feel I am educated enough in my dogs and nature to not need to rush the process. Kind of like a watched kettle doesn’t boil. She had her normal around 20 days signs that all was on track. She continued to appear with children. You can not X-ray for puppies really until the last week or so of gestation. That is when their little bones finish growing enough to be seen. Again, trust nature unless there is a concern. That is mainly for puppy count. Just like in humans, things happen. I was in puppy watch, knowing that as they always do, she will go into labor when I am the very busiest and tired so I was really doing my due diligence. One morning I woke up and she wasn’t pregnant. No puppies, no signs that the delivered puppies, just no puppies. She has had a false pregnancy in the past but this one was different. She just absorbed them. She looks as though she recently waned a litter, if you have seen a dog at this stage you understand. But simply no babies. This is very sad for us. Not only do we have wonderful families waiting for her pretty buff puppies, we also were excited as this was our only fall litter.
We are almost finished retiring our wonderful girls that have blessed us with healthy babes. And transitioning to our next generation that are of my own breeding. Super excited for what is to come!! We have had a slow start trying to line up heat cycles and other details that go into this. As well as skipping the perfect timing for them here as the past election was looming. So many questions on the economy and such. I didn’t want to have puppies at a time when people were extra concerned about what was happening in the world. Which of course we all should be even now.
By skipping that heat cycles with several girls, we have upset the apple cart. So here’s to praying it’s getting back on track and we have some new mommas soon.
I know this was long. I hope that I was able to clarify a few things. Life is still chugging along over here. As some may have seen, we have some chicken things happening. It has been so fun watching my dogs love on these little hatchlings. They are so very good and gentle. * let me be honest, I’m not sure that I would trust a couple of my girls not to make bad decisions if one of these were running loose with no supervision* 🤣😵 but mostly they take turns guarding the chicks and growling at anyone else coming to mess with them. Then they kind of change gaurd and repeat. lol I feel this is just another feather in their cap at being all around wonderful family pets. ❤️
Other new things coming so stay tuned. Tricia
