Julia and I had a super weekend of learning with Truly in West Virginia! It was Truly's first time spending the night away from the farm and it couldn't have been a better experience. The facility was top notch and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Truly was in a shed row stall that looked out over the huge cross country course which he seemed to enjoy gazing out of. Watching Nicholas ride numerous quality horses with such consistency was a real treat as well as watching him instruct several working students/assistants. My lessons were super as usual; somehow when teaching, Nicholas manages to point out where I need improvement, boosts my confidence, and challenges me all at the same time. Not easy. I hope some of that skill rubs off on me! Truly was quite up and spooky twice the first day, as he adjusted to the "now you see them, now you don't" windows. The second day he was his normal self which was great. Many thanks to Nicholas for including us! And thanks to Uno's breeder, Amy Beard for driving an hour to meet us for dinner!

Truly Special arrives at Lucky Charm Farm from New York! Truly is a 17.3 hand, 5 yr. old Swedish Warmblood gelding imported from Sweden as a 1 yr. old by jumper Beezie Madden. His future is bright!

Ultan is a 15.2 hd. 17 yo PSL Lusitano gelding, very sensitive to weight aids and not spooky at all; great lesson horse - will teach a correct, quiet seat; learn all lateral movements, changes, pirouettes and even piaffe. Safe for amateur/young rider, completely sound under saddle and easy maintenance but stiff with flexions on vet check. Lucky Charm Farm is excited to be hosting Britta Johnston, Grand Prix trainer and International clinician for a clinic on 19 and 20 AUGUST!
Britta began riding at age 6 in Germany where she was trained in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and Vaulting, then earning her Bronze medal at age 13 and her Silver at age 16 from the German Riding Federation. Having trained with Rudolf Zeilinger, Britta went on to coach for the Young Breeders World Championships and developed a very loyal following of students in Germany. She is a regular clinician in the U. K., Canada, Brazil and China. With Britta's 30 years of experience starting and training horses to the FEI levels, she focuses on proper biomechanics of the rider to influence the horse correctly. She uses sequential gymnastic exercises to strengthen the horse's skeleton and progress the horse's training.
